Abstract
The present patent is about the invention of an instrument that permits the measurement of an odontological treatment, especially in case of implants' application, which requires perforation of the patient's bone made by bur to be creating the conditions of implant's setting. The present patent target it is to provide a cylindrical instrument with annular furrows regularly spaced that permits to control the depth of an odontological procedure, especially to dental implants. Another target it is to provide an instrument with two different diameter sections, which permits the measurement of perforations when the diameter itself can be varied, reducing the number of required instruments.
Description
"DEPTH MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT TO ODONTOLOGICAL TREATMENTS".
The present patent is about the invention of an instrument that permits the measurement of an odontological treatment, especially in case of implants' application, which requires perforation of the patient's bone by bur to be creating the conditions of implant's setting.
The actual problem on this procedure it is the variation of bone reaching that can be different between patients, which can cause accidents because noble areas, like nerves, can be reached by the bur and can be causing serious sequels to the patients.
To avoid this, the procedure requires a previous radiography to calculate the distance to be perforated.
In this case, the technical problem it is not the coincidence between radiographic films' plan with perforation plan, with can cause a mistake due to dimensional alterations of the radiographic image.
The claimant and others acquired the PI8804332-0 "SCALE TO RADIOGRAPHIC MEASURES" patent, which had been anticipating a way to depth measurement to odontological treatment, when a stripe with radiopaque and radiolucent areas permits depth determination, or an instrument with surrounding salience in sequence resembling saw teeth permits the obtainment of an image in depth.
Such form presented itself as non-adequate in case of implants, when precision and perforation angle it is very important.
For that reason the new instrument gives a cylindrical piece with annular furrows regularly exposed through all instrument or through parts of it.
The spacing between the annular furrows can be, for example, of 2 mm, which don't obstruct the use of another spacing values but allows the referential form of scale's use. So, when a radiography creates dimensional alteration of image making the spacing looks bigger or smaller, the dental surgeon is be able to determinate which depth can be reached because he/she knows the real interval of each instrument's spacing.
For better learning and understanding concerning to this news, the following picture illustrates, as example and non-restrictive, showing the lateral view of the instrument that is object of the present patent.
According to the pictures and its details, the new single-barrel instrument is presented (1) formed by two cylindrical sections (2) and (3) being one of the parts bigger than the other part, having through its length, in each one of the sections (2) and (3) a succession of annular furrows (4) regularly spaced, being the part between sections (2) and (3) an intermediary part (5) dotted with a passage (6).
Through this construction, the new instrument allows its use aligned to the perforation angle made by the bur due to its double diameter, warranting measurement precision and allowing the annular furrows regularly spaced to make an
appropriate measurement when submitted to radiography, defining the reached depth and possible depth without reach noble areas.
The passage (6) at the intermediary part (5) it is addressed to permit that the instrument can be tied with a string, which avoids that the patient swallows the instrument.
