Description

Guide block
The present invention refers to a guide block comprising at least one wearing plate provided on at least one of the two inner sides of the guide block, said guide block having at least one fastening portion for anchoring to an adjustable supporting device in order to guide a saw blade to a predetermined position along its rotation axis, by that at least one of said wearing plates by aid of a power coming from the supporting device is exerting pressure against at least the one of the two sides of the saw blade before the sawing operation of different wood products takes place.
In structures of this type existing on the market guide blocks are today used, which on the inner sides comprise countersunk seats, in which the wearing plates are placed. This makes that the support for the wearing plates becomes thinner corresponding to the size of the countersink and therefore very much unsteady and because of that often breaks down. Between the wearing plates and existing grooves a slot arises in the seats, in which chips and chippings are very easy to gather. Further shims and screws are used to fasten said wearing plate. The shims also gather chippings and chips. Since the wearing plats is countersunk into the inner side it only extends outwards about 0,2 mm, which causes a too narrow slot of about 0,2 mm around the wearing plate, which shall constitute a passage for chips and chippings intended to be fed away from the saw blade. The above mentioned structures are causing that chips and chippings are get stuck and that the saw blade are stopped and becomes too hot and is very easy damaged, which causes expensive stoppage and expensive changing operations of damaged equipments. Further the wearing plates must often be adjusted in obtaining of a correct free distance between the saw blade and wearing plates, which is adjusted manually. The wearing plates must also be changed often, when they become worn, which is expensive since they can only be worn on one place.
One object of the present invention is to eliminate these drawbacks existing with the structures mentioned above, by instead to countersink the inner sides in order to fasten the wearing plates, the inner sides are plane cut, the wearing plates according to the invention being anchored directly with their plane surface lying against the plane cut surface. In this way the thickness of the wearing plates are constituting a space, which creates a good passage for chips and chippings, so they can pass outwards of the sides of the wearing plates without the need to be adjusted.
Thanks to the invention a simple and an effective guide block has been provided, which creates a good passage for chips and chippings, so that they can pass past the wearing plates without being jammed. The guide block comprises one wearing plate provided at each of its two inner sides. A fastening portion fixes the guide block in an adjustable supporting device, which can guide the saw blade to a predetermined position along its rotation axis by aid of pressure from the wearing plates against the sides of the saw blade by the aid of a power applied to the supporting device before the sawing process of different wood materials preferably timber takes place, in their longitudinal direction or across the longitudinal direction. According to the invention at least one portion of the inner side is plane cut and in parallel to the extension areas or sides. Each wearing plate comprises two parallel opposite plane wearing surfaces, one of which being applied directly against the inner side and the other one being turned towards the extension area or side. The wearing surface extends over the plane or plane cut inner side, which is greater than the wearing surface. According to a first embodiment example of the invention the guide block comprises two opposite provided halves of steel, linked together at the fastening portion. The halves are provided on each side of the saw blade at its periphery portion without contacting the teeth of the saw blade. The wearing plate, which can be manufactured by steel or e.g. carborundum, then is screwed by aid of screws extending through openings extending through the halves from their outsides. The screw openings are then countersunk into the outsides of the halves, so that the screw heads of the screws shall take a minimum room sideway, since a number of guide blocks have to located next to each other. The screws are inserted from outside through the half, are then screwed further a distance or the whole way through the thickness of the wearing plate in screw openings provided there. If the screw is screwed through the wearing plate the end of the screw hold a position, which is totally in line with the wearing surface or if it is longer, it is plane cut, so that it will be in line with the wearing surface. The bottom area of the wearing plate is screwed to the plane or plane cut inner side. The thickness of the wearing plate of about 3-5 mm in cooperation with the thickness of the halve creates together stability to the guide block in a direction in parallel to the rotation axis, so that the thickness of the half (without a countersunk seat) can be made correspondingly thin. This decreasing of the thickness creates space between the inner side and the extension area or side of about 3-5 mm on both sides of the saw blade and wearing plates, comprising a diameter of about 150- 250 mm for the passage of chips and chippings of about 3-5 mm. An opening is created between the two inner sides. Said opening will then become thickness of the wearing plate twice plus the blade thickness of the saw blade of about 2- 3 mm, plus a certain tolerance between the wearing surface and the extension area or side of the saw blade of about 0, 1 - 0,5 mm. The opening around the teeth of the saw blade will then become large enough for good passage of chips and chippings on this place. The wearing plate when mounted on the inner side comprises an upper edge area viewed towards the wearing surface. The thickness of the wearing plate constitutes a roof formation, which is sloping downwards and is provided with an uppermost point, so that chips and/or chippings, which are located on the roof formation during the sawing operation are sliding downwards and away from the roof formation, which comprises e.g. a rounded form an up and downwards directed V-form, U-form or a slanting plane. When the wearing plate comprises a circular formation viewed towards the wearing surface and the going through threaded screw openings and the outwards open openings are symmetrically arranged on the two wearing surfaces of the wearing plate, it is possible to loose and tighten the wearing plate by the screws again in a number of new positions during a preceding turning of the wearing plate around its own axis or to find a new wearing position or turn up the second wearing surface towards the extending surface or side, so that also the cooling water can be fed forwards into the different positions through the two wearing surfaces. In this way you save wearing plates, which otherwise will be expensive if they only can be worn on one place before being consumed. If the wearing plate comprises four symmetrically provided, through screw openings and outlet openings, the wearing plate can be provided in four positions on the one wearing surfaace and in four positions on the second wearing surface, with other words together in eight different positions. Each half is at the fastening portion provided tight to each other via plane contact areas in parallel to the inner sides. Now the opening gap between the inner sides is created since these areas are situated in different planes. The fastening portion comprises an opening, through which the adjustable supporting device in the form of a telescopically hydraulic piston system is provided. The opening comprises different diameters and is different deeply countersunk to mate into the different diameters of the hydraulic pistons, so that the guide blocks can be provided tightly and close to each other. The plane/plane cut inner side extends to an area towards the plane contact area, which is about 200-250 mm long and 200 mm in width, which connects with a level difference at the fastening portion, which has a measure corresponding to the opening gap divided with two between the inner sides across the plane cut inner side, which together with the extension area or side of the sew blade and the contact area comprises a mainly vertical extension into the room, when the guide block is provided at the saw blade. The rotation axis through the centre of the saw blade and the hydraulic system extend mainly in the horizontal plane. The guide block and the wearing plate comprise continuous cooling water channels for feeding cooling water to two outlet openings for the cooling water located in the wearing surface, said cooling water being fed forwards to cool said saw blade and provide for a certain lubrication effect between the wearing area and the extension area/side. The cooling water channels then connect via a bayonet coupling to an exterior water connection provided on at least one of the halves.
The invention will be described closer below by aid of some preferable embodiment examples in view of the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 shows a cross section of a guide block and a portion of a saw blade and Fig. 2 shows a view illustrated towards a half of a guide block, viewed straight towards its inner side.
As can be seen from Fig. 1 and 2 there is illustrated a guide block 3 comprising two halves 1 1 provided on each side of a saw blade 6. The halves 1 1 each comprises an inner side 2 having a wearing plate 1. The guide block 3 comprises a fastening portion 4 attached in an adjustable supporting device 5. The saw blade 6 is in its centre adjustable along its rotation axis 7, so that at least one wearing plate 1 by aid of a power applied from the supporting device 5 id movable in the direction of the rotation axis 7, when the wearing plate 1 is pressed towards one of the two opposite extension areas or sides 8 of the saw blade 6. The wearing plate 1 comprises two parallel opposite plane wearing surfaces 9, one of which comprises a bottom area 21 , which is applied directly against the plane or plane cut inner side 2. The guide block 3 and wearing plate 1 comprise cooling water channels 14, which connect via at least one bayonet coupling 17 to an exterior water connection. The wearing surface 9 comprises output openings 15 for feeding forwards cooling water to the saw blade 6. The wearing plate 1 further is fixed by screws through screw openings 10 extending through the halves 1 1 and further through the thickness 13 of the wearing plate 1 , into there threaded screw openings 16, so that the thickness 13 of the wearing plate 1 cooperates with thickness of the halves 1 1 for attending a good stability. An opening gap 22 is created between the two inner sides 2, which become the thickness 13 multiply by two plus the blade thickness 23 of the saw blade 6, plus a certain tolerance between the wearing surface 9 and extension area/side 8. The two halves 1 1 of the guide block 3 are provided tightly against each other via plane contact surfaces 24 at the fastening portion 4 in creating of said opening gap 22. The fastening portion 4 comprises at least one opening 25, through which the adjustable supporting device 5 is provided. The wearing plate 1 comprises an upper edge portion 18, where the thickness 13 constitutes a roof formation 20 having a highest point 19.
