Abstract

It's a Universal Bicarbonate Cartidge (6) which is designed to be used either with Gambro or Resenius Dialysis Machines and easy adapted to be used with any dialysis machines. This cartridge is used during bicarbonate dialysis to get fresh bicarbonate solution. It's a Cartridge (6), not a bag for that reason it can sustain excess pressure and can not blow up as existing Fresenius bag in case there is an excess pressure.

Description

UNIVERSAL BI-CARTRTOGE
Technical Field
This cartridge is being used with either Fresenius or Gambro Dialysis Machines in case , we use the machine for Bicarbonate Dialysis . As when we use this cartridge we can get the Bicarbonate solution , fresh on line after the water is mixed with the Bicarbonate powder in the cartridge. This is done automatically via the machine , no need for manual mixing which needs labors and could create an error in mixing. Background Art
During Bicarbonate dialysis , machine is preparing fresh Bicarbonate solution , via mixing Bicarbonate powder in the cartridge attached to certain adaptor in the machine , with the water which is delivered via the machine to the cartridge and the fresh bicarbonate solution is sucked back to the machine to be used during the dialysis session. At time being , the existing Gambro Bicarbonate Cartridges can fit only ( used only ) with Gambro Dialysis Machines and also existing Fresenius Bicarbonate Bags , fit only with Fresenius Dialysis Machines. No universal Bicarbonate Cartridge or Bags ( which could be used with both dialysis machines and could be easily adapted to be used with any dialysis machine ). Disclosure of the Invention
This new cartridge is being used with either Fresenius or Gambro Dialysis Machines as it has adapted to fit with both machines( could be easily adapted to be used with any dialysis machine ) , to get fresh bicarbonate solution during bicarbonate dialysis . This is done automatically via the machine , no need for manual mixing which needs labor and could create an error in mixing. Description of Drawing :
Universal Bi- Cartridge as shown in the fig ( 1) , consists of : 1 -INLETE FOR WATER IN , in case we use the cartridge with Gambro Machines , otherwise it is closed.
2- COVER OF THE CARTRIDGE , sealed to the cartridge body ( 6 ) after we fill the cartridge with Bicarbonate powder.
3- FILTER / MESH , to filtrate the water in ( removes any particles ) when we use the cartridge with Gambro machines. 4- OPENING FOR WATER IN WITH FILTER , to allow for water in and filtrate the water when we use the cartridge with Fresenius machine , otherwise is closed.
5- TUBE , allows bicarbonate solution outlet ( after it has been filtered using filter / mesh ( 8 ) ) , in case we use the cartridge with Fresenius machine , otherwise it is closed.
6- CARTRIGE BODY , filled with Bicarbonate powder. 7- BICARBONATE POWDER , Medical grade.
8- FILTER / MESH , to filtrate bicarbonate solution after it is mixed with water.
9- OUTLET FOR BICARBONATE SOLUTION , after it is filtered using filter / mesh ( 8) , in case we use the cartridge with Gambro machines , otherwise it is closed.
10- FILTER / MESH , to filtrate water in , in case we use the cartridge with Fresenius machine( It could be used to replaces over tube filter ( 4) and in that case we will use short inlet tube ). 11- FRESENIUS ADAPTOR , to fit with Fresenius machines , otherwise it is closed.

Claims

CLAIMS - Cartridge adapted to be used with both Fresenius and Gambro machines. - Fittings ( 1 & 9 ) used to fit with Gambro dialysis machine , otherwise they are closed . Fitting ( 11) used to fit with Fresenius dialysis machine , otherwise it stays closed. - One filter / Mesh to filter the bicarbonate solution and the filtered solution could be outlet via outlet ( 9) in case of Gambro machine and tube ( 5) in case of Fresenius machine.
