  • the plate for marking trees is rectangular.
  • the plate In the vicinity of the shorter edges the plate is provided with the two symmetrically placed corrugated catches in a perpendicular relation to the plate.
  • the front of the plate is provided with the corner projections in a form of small poles.
  • the plate is also provided with corner catches at the information containing side to fasten the plate to a hammer or another fastening device.
  • a marking element according to EP 0460256 is provided with catches perpendicular to the plate body and parallel to the shorter edge of the plate. In known designs of marking elements, catches for attaching a plate to a timber material are placed close to the shorter edge of the plate and parallel to the same. Known catches, regardless of their design, are provided with hook locking endings to hold the plate in the marked material. After pushing or driving the marking element into the timber material, wood fibres tighten around the locking catch profile to disable disengaging the element.
  • the hooked design of catches does not protect elements from the intentional removing. Meanwhile, one of the purposes of marking is to prevent an illegal tree felling. Frequently, marking elements are removed from trees or timber and attached to illegally felled wood. Such usage can be prevented by e.g. encoding information of the timber in a form of a barcode.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a marking element with an enhanced preventive function. This aim was reached by two methods: changing a number and shape of catches and changing the plate design to disable its re-use.
  • the wood marking element of the invention comprise a flat plate provided with optionally encoded information, and provided at one side with catches to attach the plate to a timber material, and at the other side, catches to fasten the plate to a pushing or driving device, wherein the marking element plate comprises at least one groove with a depth less than or equal to the thickness of the plate.
  • the groove is placed so that the marking element plate is held with the fastening catches.
  • the groove can be placed anywhere on the plate.
  • the second embodiment comprise an additional catch placed in the middle part of the plate.
  • the additional catch is preferably of the shape of cylinder ending with a cone-shaped catch with a base diameter greater than the diameter of the cylinder or two half-cylinders with a hollow middle and ending with a barbed blocking element. Both embodiments of protecting means of the inventive element can be utilised together or separately.
  • the additional catch is provided to make it difficult to remove the marking element from the timber, and the grooves cause the permanent destruction of the element on an attempt to remove it from the timber.

  • the marking element of the invention comprises the rectangular plate 1 with the information in a form of sequence digits marked on it.

  • the other side of the plate is provided with corrugated catches 3 placed on the shorter edges of the plate to attach the plate to the timber material. Between the corrugated catches and shorter edges of the plate there are two round holes 4.
  • the plate 1 comprises two grooves 5 placed in parallel with the shorter edges of the plate and along the corrugated catches 3. The depth of the grooves 5 is equal to the thickness of the plate 1.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un élément de marquage comprenant une plaque plate portant éventuellement une information codée, et comportant sur une face des pattes permettant de fixer ladite plaque sur un matériau ligneux et sur l'autre face de pattes permettant de monter la plaque sur un dispositif à pousser ou à enfoncer. Cet élément est caractérisé en ce que la plaque (1) comprend au moins une rainure (5) d'une profondeur inférieure ou égale à l'épaisseur de la plaque (1).Cet élément de marquage peut comprendre une patte (6) de fixation additionnelle dans la partie centrale de la plaque (1).
