Abstract

Advanced metal detection apparatus (10) according to the present invention may comprise a plurality of magnetometers (12) for sensing a magnetic field and for producing output data signals relating to the detected magnetic field. The magnetometers may be arranged along a first row (22) and define a sensing area (16). A signal processing apparatus (14) connected to each of said plurality of magnetometers is responsive to the output signals produced thereby and generates a human-readable display indicative of the presence of the ferromagnetic object within the sensing area.
