jrzvenior .1? J1. Malmbery UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER AUGUST MALMISERG, OI FREISTATT, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A MEMBER FOR PAIRS OF TONGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,746, dated October 31, 1899.
Application filed June 8, 1899. Serial No. 719,853. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, PETER AUGUST MALM- BERG,of Freistatt, Lawrence county, Missouri, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for a Member of a Pair of Tongs, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a member of a pair of tongs. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional View taken on line II II of Fig. 1.
As shown, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the peculiar construction of the part indicated at 1, which is round in cross-section, as seen at Fig. 2, but diverges from the apex 5 with a slight curve until section-line II II is reached, where the curve becomes more abrupt. The rounded portion extends rearward from the apex 5 nntii it merges intoa flattened body portion 2. Through said body portion 2 is an eye 4. The flattened body portion, after extending rearward from the eye and from the first-mentioned rounded portion, merges back into a rounded portion 3, which may be extended or distended Without departing from the spirit of my design.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a member of a pair of tongs, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
PETER AUGUST MALMBERG. W'itnesses:
