Beit known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented n new and original Design for Cal'pels, of which the following isa specication, referencebeing had to the accompanying photograph, which forms n part of the same.

The invention relates i0 n design to be worked into or upon surfaces, auch as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed. 4

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a, carpet showing my new design.'

My design is adapted for the border of a stair-carpet'. It; has on its inner margin a. row of small ornamental iignres, and also an outer margin ornameuted with line-work. The middle portion is divided intolseclionsby vertical rows ofsnlali ornaments. Eaohsection is filled with a star-shaped group of iiower forms having u iiower form at the center encircledbyl other` stanshaped ower forms. f

The design for a carpet-border, consisting of thedesign substantially as shown.
