To all whom 'it may concern: j
Be it known that I, KARL G. JoI-IANSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Concord Junction, in the countyv of Mid dlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful i Improvements in Folding Tables, of which the following is a Specification.
This invention aims to provide a brace and locking device for crosslegged two leaved top folding tables, the objects of which are, irst, stability when unfolded; and, second, compactness when folded. These objects are attained by the mechanism illustrated in the Figure 1 is a side :elevation of the table in folded position. Fig. 2 is a section (en-A larged) on line 4(2. 2.) of Fig. 4, the top, top stays and leg Supports being omitted. Fig. 3 is a section (enlarged) on line (1. 1.) of Fig. l, of one endof the table. Fig. 4 shows the end elevation of the table inunfoldecl position. y Y
Each pair of leg supports (4) are vconnected near the center by a split headed bolt (7), two jointed bars (5) each having their -lower ends pivotally connectedto said bolt heads while the upper endsl have a similar connection to a head piece (12) at'a' point (17) the latter being grooved to, receive the upper sect-ion of vsaid, bars when the table is unfolded, as best shown in Fig. 4. Two sleeved rods (8) are each provided with a lock (3) the lat-ter being adapted to swing to one side from the pressure by the brace bars on its outer slanting face, .into the cavity (6) Fig. 2 containing a spring (10) by which said lock' is forced back into its loclcing position when the bars have entered the groove (9).
