My invention relates to cut-out blocks for.
eiectric connectors and particularly to fusible cut-outs, the object of my invention being to provide a device of this character adapted to receive fuses of different characters and sizes. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan of a block in which my invention is incorporated; Fig. 2 is a section thereof on the lline 2 2, Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a similar .section of a combined cut-out and switch.
In order to accommodate either plug or cartridge fuses, I mount upon the insulating base A and between the clips 5 and 6 for a cartridge fuse, a plug receptacle 7 of the usual type. screw shell Sito the clip 6 by a connecting strip 9, while a similar strip 10, leads the current 'from the plug terminal l1 to the opposite clip Finger room for the insertion ot the plug is provided by suitably recessing the insulating fins 23, which separate adjacent clips. It is obvious that'the connection between the clips is thus as read ily made by inserting a fuse plu in the receptacle 7 as by adjusting a cartridge fuse between the cli s 5 and 6.
As the pre erred construction, I have shown the cut-out with grooves 12 for the line wires and the current is led from the latterby conducting strips 13 located in may be inserted but they are primarily in? tended for cartridge fuses of the screw clamp type and of different lengths. A necessary when fuses of this sort are ern-v ployed, the clips 5 and 6 may be removed."
The current is led from theV by unscrewing the nuts 21 by which they are secured to the bolts 22. To obviate the necessity for removing the clips however, the plates 16 and 1T are offset at the point at vwhich the clips are attached so as to form a shoulder against which the end of the cartridge abuts, while its perforated or slotted .wings extend beyond at each end to the binding posts. A recess 24 may be formed beneath the holes 19 to permit the binding screw to be turned down tight when not in use.
The cut-out may be combined in any1 suitable manner with other devicesfor e ample switches, as shown in Fig. 3. VVhen`the cut-out is thus combined with a switch, the strips 13 may be eliminated and one terminal of the switch connected directly to the plate 16 as shown.

I claim as my invention; 1. A cut-out block having a plug recep- 'tacle' and means independent thereof for carrying a substantially `horizontal fuse above the same.
.2. A cut-out bloclrhavin'g a plug receptacle and means independent thereof vfor carrying a substantially horizontal cartridge fuse above the same.
3. A cut-out block having an insulating base recessed toreceive a rusev plug recepv tacle and means to carry a fuse above said receptacle.
4. A cut out block having wire terminals, spring clips to receive a cartridge fuse of one type and -binding posts to secure a cartridge fuse of diHerent type and connections from said clips and binding posts to the respective terminals whereby a fuse of either character may be inserted between the latter, substantially as described.
5. A cut out block having wire terminals, spring clips to receive a cartridge fuse of one type and binding-poststo secure a cartridge fuse of different type and connections vfrom said clips and binding posts to the rcspective terminals whereby a Jfuse of either character may be inserted between thelatter, together with means for spacing said binding posts apart to' different distances to accommodate fuses of different lengths.
6. A cut out block having wire terminals,
l minals independent thereof and connections from said plug and cartridge fuse terminals to the circuit terminals whereby the circuit between said terminals is directly completed through a fuse of either type connected to its appropriate terminals.
9. A cut out bloclr having circuit terminals, plu@ terminals, cartridge fuse terminals for iierent types of cartridge fuses independent`thereof and connections from said plug and cartridge 'fuse terminals to the circuit terminals whereby the circuit between said terminals is directly completed through a fuse of desired type connected to its appropriate terminals.

A cut out having a base of insulating material, conducting straps mounted thereon and connected to circuit terminals, terminals'for a cartridge fuse on said straps, independent plug terminals on said base and connecting strips leading from said conducting straps to the respective plug terminals, whereby a circuit may be completed between said circuit terminals by the insertion of either a plug or a cartridge fuse, substantially as described.
1l. A cut-out block having connected to a circuit terminal a plate provided with a plurality of threaded holes, and a terminal screw adapted to be adjusted in said holes to accommodate different sizes of cartridge fuses provided with means to engage said screw in combination with'meansconnected with the other circuit terminal adapted to receive the other end of said cartridge fuse together with terminals for a 'plug fuse interposed between said plates and electrical connections thereto respectively.
12. A cut-out block having terminal plates with a plurality of threaded perforations to receive adjustable terminal screws for each plate, a clip for a cartridge fuse connected to each plate'and an interposed fuse plug receptacle with connections from the terminals thereof to said plates, substantially as described. 13. A cut-out block having terminal plates with a 'plurality of threaded perforations to receive adjustable terminal screws for each plate, a clip for a cartridge fuse detachably connected to each late and an interposed fuse plug receptace with connections from the terminals thereof tosaid pla-tes, substantially as described. 4 4
