One or more annular ribs or corrugations in drawings. l
he invention relates to improvements inmay be formed on the shank and the toy whistles and more particularly to the threads 8 wound-about the same on opposite sides of said rib to more effectively retain the casing or covering 3 upon the shank.
The handle 2 may be made straight, as short n in Fig. 4, or it may be bentto provide a loopor kink, as shown inFig. 1. Said Aloop or kink is retained in the handle by sewing the casing-at the. points v ;here its ortions whistles and The' object of the linvention is to provide a simple and practical toy whistle, the handle of which is to repjrlesent a pigs tail insize, form and color, w 'ch will be interesting and small cost.l cross. This loop or kink resembles t e usual With the above and other objects in view, Akiiik inl pi s tails and Vserves as a inger the invention consists of the features of' novpiece, the oop or kink being 'of suicient .elty hereinafter yfully describedand claimed size to permit of the insertion of the finger. and illustrated in the accompanying draw- In making the improved handle the casing 3 is lirst formed by sha ing a strip of fabric or other material,- fol ing the same ii on itself and then sewing it along its over apin s, inwhich-f j igure 1 is a perspective view of the improved whistle; Figs. 2 and 3 are longi tudinal and transverse sectional views; andv ing ed es.l It is then turned inside out and Fig. 4 is a detail viewof a modified form of Elledwiththe bran or other granular material 4 and-the shank 7 of the then inserted in the large casing and secured therein pigs tail gluel or cords 8; The threads 5 may be then. of a tubular 'casing 3 placed in the handle by passingy them through the casing'S -by means of a nee and'cutting the threads to the 4desired length. The casing may then be b ent to form the loop or kink'and secured in such bent posi-y tion'by sewing it.. I if Y Having thus described theinvention what is claimedis: f I
The herein described .toy comprising a substantially rectangular body havin one end notched and hollowed to provi e an integralwhistle and its other .end formed with a reduced cylindrical shankand with an annular groove at the inner end of said shank, a whip arranged upon consisting .o a tubular casing` o en end o In the drawings 1 denotes thebodylof the and is composed ta ered longitudinally and constructed of fa ric or other flexible material and provided with a iilling 4 of branorany other Granular vmaterial which will render the The tubular casing 3j colored to resemble a'pigs tail and in order to make the representation more .real and lifelike, the exterior of the casing may covered with threads:v 5- which: represent hairs.
