To allwhom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANNAH C. EBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Skillet-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is skillets, pans, pots and like culinary vessels to support the same on a stove, table or other object and hold the same in a horizontal position, to prevent tilting thereof and also to prevent the bottom of such vessel from coming in Contact with a `table or the like and marring or burning the same, and the said invention consists of a band to encircle the vessel at or near its base and provided with arms to bear against the outer side of the vessel, as hereinafter described and claimed. In the accompanying drawings,-Figure l is a perspective view of a support constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same applied to a skillet or frying pan. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a blank from which my improved support is formed, showing the same extended. Fig. 3 is a detail elevation of a modied'construction of my improved support. Fig. 4 is a similar view showing one modification of the same. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of my improved support detached from thevessel.

In accordance with my invention I provide a band l which is preferably made of sheet metal and is of such size as to enable it to encircle and fit on a skillet or other like vessel at or near the bottom of such vessel and to extend below t-he sides of such vessel to form a base to bear on a stove or other like object on which such vessel may be placed. The said band is in practice made .rom an extended blank provided on its upper side with arms 2 to bear against the outer side of the vessel. The blank having been thus formed may be bent to form a ring or band, and it-s ends may be overlapped and secured together by any suitable means or in any suitable manner.

In the modified form of my invention shown in Fig. 3 the ring or band l is provided in addition to the arms 2, with downwardly extending feet 3. Such arms and such feet are here shown as having their outer ends notched. This may be varied within the scope of my invention, and I do not limit myself in this particular.

In the modified form of my invention an improved support for shown in Fig. 4.- the feet 4 are broader and shorter than those shown in Fig. 3.

y improved support is exceedingly useful for application to aV skillet, frying pan or other like vessel in which the bottom is slightly rounded or convexed, as it serves, by bearing on the top of the stove, when the vessel is in use for cooking, to prevent such vessel from tilting to any extent, and hence prevents the grease or other contents of the vessel from collecting all at one point in the bottom of the vessel to cause other portions to become exposed and the article which is being cooked to become burned. The said support also serves to prevent the bottom of the vessel from coming in contact with a table or other object 'on which it may be placed, and from marring or soiling the same.

The notches in the upper ends of the arms, as shown in the various figures of the drawings, provide such arms with points or fingers at their upper ends which may be bent over the upper edge of the vessel to clasp the same and secure the support against casual detachment from the vessel in the event that it is desire-d to permanently attach the support to the vessel. The notches in the lower ends of the feet form spurs to engage the table or other object on which the vessel is placed to prevent the support from shifting.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is 1- A support for cooking vessels comprising a ring thereof, said ring or band being provided with upwardly extending arms having a gradually increasing upward and outward curve or Hare to bear against the outer side of such vessel and having their upper ends widened and notched to provide fingers adapted to be bent over into engagement with the rim edge of the vessel, and said ring or band also being provided with integral depending llegs having a gradually increasing downward and outward curve or flare and widened and notched at their lower ends to points to form spurs to prevent slippage of the band upon a supporting surface.
