Specification '01 Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 8, 1908.
Application filed December 26, 1907. Serial No. 408,086.
To all whom it may concern: Be it-known that I, JOHN W. RICE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Geor ia, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Adjustable Stands; and I do exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it a pertains to make and use the same.
his invention relates to new and useful improvements in adjustable stands and is especially designed as a supporting stand for supporting the various articles comprised m a shaving outfit.
The principal object of the'invention is to provide a stand of this kind which may be readily and easily adjusted to accommodate 1 a person-whether in a sittingor standing position.
A further object of the invention is to so construct the stand that the several arts of the same may be readily disassemb ed if' desired, as in transportation.
Inthe accompanying drawing, which represents a perspective view of the device complete, the numeral 1 indicates the sup porting base of the device which as shown member 3.' In ca out the invention slide he tubular member\ 3 and may be adjust d o the proper oint*by an adjusting-p screw5 screwing throug the up er end of the A cylin rical rod or section4.-
A mirror support com a curved a central longislot 9 is adjustably fixed-to the upper endof the stand section 6 by a fastening screw 10 extending through the slot 9 of the body-portion and screwing in the upper end support is provided at each end with a; forked clamping member 11, the teeth or to engage the rim of a mirror 13.
having suflicient resiliency to permit of its being sprung out to disengage the teeth or engag' portions 12 from the mirror to permit of t e latter being removed from position. A horizontal support 13 is adjustably secured to the centra section of the stand bya set screw on which support is adapted swinging arm 16 terminating in a ,forked extension 17 at its outer end, one arm of such extension being of ring like formation and being designed to support an oil burner 18 and the upper arm of such extension being of similanformation and being designed to support a cup '19 in which the water to be use during the shaving operation is to be heated.
The front end of'the support 13 is bent upwardly as at 20, and is designed .to be engaged by the handle of a razor strap 21 as shown.
Having thus fully described'my invention,
what I c aim is new and desire to secure b Letters-Patent of the United States, is as fo lows z- I 1., A stand of the character s ecified comprising a plurality of adjustab e sections, a
orizontal box support having an upwardly bent front end portion adjustably fixed to one of the sections, and an adjustable mirror support comprising upper and lower clamping members formed with spaced mirror engaging portions or teeth adjustably fixed to another of the sections, the bent end portion of the box sup ort being designed to engage with the han e of a razor strop, and a box mounted upon said su port.
2. A stand of the c aracter specified em-.
bracing a plurality of adjustable 'sections, 'a mirror, and a support for the mirror said support consisting of a longitudinally slotted curved body tions, said support being adjustably mounted on the upipersection of the stand.
of the character specified com-v e sections, a
