' It consists in the construction of a spring-catch, passing through a knob affixed to the washboard or surbase of a wall in any suitable position, and adapted to secure the knob to the wash-board, and to catch'into a socket-plate affixed to the bottom of the door, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings- A is the knob, aixed to the surbase or washboard B by means of a screw-thread in the Ashank aof the kn'ob.
The shank a biflncates near its outer or ee end, and thus forms two branches or spring-tines, b -b, each having a head which Atapers to front and rear, and the two heads, when sprung together, form a diamond or spear-shaped termination, which catches yin the socket-y n plate covering a socket or recess, D; inthe door O.
The tines b b are located in a hole or recess, h, inthe knob, and the headed-cl are presented beyond the said recess to catch in the plate e e, as shown.
A rubber washer, fj; or other elastic device is afiixed on the end of the knob, to prevent any concussion of the door.
` y A small block, having a cavity, D, and the plate ee,
to t within the plate e attached to the door, and with a shoulder at the inner end of the bifurcation, by whichf the knob A is held to the vwash-board B, as constructed and shown.
