IMPROVEMENT IN CHURNS..
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that l, JAMES J. EDWARDS, of Jthe town of Columbus, in the county of Columbia and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Churns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a' p irtof :his speciiication, in which- Figure l is a prespective View, and Fig. 2 a transverse section.
Letter A represents the gear-frame; letter B,- the collar, in which the frame is fastened by a key, H; letter C, the upright shaft to which the blades are attached for the dasher; letter D, the reservoir or water-chamber; L and K, the valves or stop-cocks for drawing oft' the buttermilk and water; F, funnel to the reservoir; E E, levers with springs attached to stop-cocks. The construction consists of a conical tub of wood, hooped by three iron hoops, with an inside lining of zinc, leaving a space between the outside and zinc lining for warm 0r cold water for tempering the cream. I claim- In combination with the perpendicular parallel dasher-blades, the levers E E, stop-cock K, and tube I', when constructed in the manner as and for the purpose herein described.
