Abstract

A cylinder lock which comprises a core having a key slot. A key is to be inserted in the key slot and includes wide faces for receiving recesses therein. Tumblers are provided in the core adjusted by the key with the recesses. A housing receives the core and includes a flange extending radially to the core and has bores. INVENTOR.
1 CYLINDER-LOCK The present invention relates to a cylinder lock, in general, and to such cylinder lock with a key to be inserted into a key slot of a cone, which coordinates tumblers with its recesses provided on the wide faces of the key.
Round cylinder locks are known already, wherein rows of pin tumblers are provided on one wide side of a key slot, in order to realize so called fiat key constructions. Such cylinder locks, have, compared with the conventional locks a higher closing combination number, however, they are comparatively easy to open by pick-locks and auxiliary tools.
It is one object of the present invention, to provide a cylinder lock, wherein a flat key construction is realized in a simple stabile form with a great combination possibility in a profile cylinder, which has beyond that a greater security against improper opening.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a cylinder lock, wherein the key slot extends in a symmetric cross position to the flange of the housing projecting radially to the core, in which flange two or more rows of tumbler pins are arranged which sit, due to the non-round cross section, non-rotatably in the bores of the flange.
By this arrangement, the present invention has the advantage, that the separating gap of the tumbler pins is adjusted to the curved configuration of the jacket face of the core.
It is another object of the present invention, to provide a cylinder lock, wherein the tumbler pins of one row are set-off in a predetermined arrangementrelative to the tumbler pins of the other row.
Beyond that a favorable design resides in addition in the fact, that in accordance with the presentinvention the key slot is closed on the one narrow side by a filling member, the outer bent side face of which supports itself on the wall of the bore.
Furthermore, it is of advantage, in accordance with the present invention, that the filling member forms a rib, projecting into the key slot, which rib enters formfittingly the groove, projecting beyond the point range of the key.
In addition, it is favorable for the presentinvention, that one or a plurality of tumbleripins disposed on-the flange side is formed of more than two parts, such, that two separating gaps, superposed relativeto each other and adjustable into the slide gap of-the core areprovided.
Finally, an advantageousfeature of the present invention resides in the fact, that the separating gap of each pair of tumbler pins is adjusted by a curved formation of the end faces of the slide'gap of the core.
Due to this arrangement it is realized, by means of -a simple structure or configuration, to equip a profile cylinder with the tumbler pinswhich are pointing to one wide side of the key slot. The wide side of the key slot is disposed favorably in a symmetrical cross position to the flange, which serves the reception of two or more rows of tumbler pins. In order to bring about a non-rotatability of the tumbler pins and, thereby, a disturbance-free closing, the latter are formed with a nonround cross-section, for instance with one edge or with a plurality of edges and guided in corresponding bores of the flange. The adjustment of the separating gap of the tumbler pins to the curved arrangement of the core lock is the cylinder core rotatable. By this arrangement an improper opening is rendered more difficult. An increased number of combinations results from the setoff arrangement of the two or more rows of tumbler pins in the flange of the housing, projecting radially to the core. The housing is not weakened by this arrangement of the tumbler pins relative to the stability of the bridgelike profile section in the double profile cylinder. The already mentioned key slot is closed up by a correspondingly formed filling member and forms at its one end the rib projecting into the key slot, so that only a correspondingly formed key is insertable. It is further made possible, to insert the lock in accordance with the present invention without great difficulty in main key arrangements. It is sufficient to form merely one or a plurality of flange sided tumbler pins of multiple parts.
A further advantage is a variation realized, in accordance with the present invention, such, that a rear end section of the key slot free of tumbler pins, is crosssection profiled by projections extending only over the length of this end section.
It is also of advantage, in accordance with the present invention, that the projections are formed by ribs of a filling member inserted into the cylinder core, the bent narrow faces of the filling member are disposed in the core slide gap.
A different configuration is realized, in accordance with the present invention, such, that the projections are formed by radially directed screws in the core, which projections have preferably a set-off pin projection extending into the lock slot.
A further still different advantageous embodiment resides in the fact, that, in accordance withthe present invention, theprojections areformed as keys of a comb inserted into a cross slot .of the core with a sector shaped cross-section.
Due to this arrangement, to form as a crosssection profile free fromtumblers only the rear end section of the key slot, brings about the advantage, that the complementary flat key has be beprofiled correspondingly only at its point section. The recesses on the wide faces of the key coordinating to the tumblerpins are not interfered with bythe profile,-so that a disturbance free accommodation of the tumbler pins is made possible. A cross-section profile of the end section of the key slot is favorably realized by projections entering the latter, which projections perform a double function..First of all, they limit the insertion movement of the key and, on the otherhand, only the key can be inserted, the grooves of which open towards the key end complement the projections disposed at the inner side end of thekey slot by a form filling entrance. Furthermore,
the closing combination is additionally increased by the variation of the length and form of the projections. Due
to the fact, that at the rear end of the key slots in the core, a filling member equipped with ribs and filling out the total key slot cross-section, isarranged, an advantageous structural form is obtained. The filling member is easily insertable and permits a fast exchangeability against another filling member equipped with ribs. Another advantageous configuration has radially directed screws in the core, which screws project with their pin projections into the key slot. Therefrom the advantage of a fast setting possibility on two differently large groove depths of the key result. In accordance with a further variation, the projections are formed by teeth of the sector-shaped comb. The latter is to be produced with saving of costs as a punching part. Furthermore, here is also a fast exchangeability against another comb equipped with teeth possible.
A further solution resides, in accordance with the present invention, in the fact, that the abutment limit for the insertion movement of the key is obtained by a form-filling entrance of a rib disposed at the inside end of the key slot into a corresponding groove of the key displaceable locking member of the cylinder core.
By this arrangement, a positive feature of the present invention resides in the fact, that the locking member carrying the rib is displaceable from the locking position into a releasing 00 position and beyond the latter again in a locking position.
Finally, it is also suitable in accordance with the present invention that the filling member has a rib. I
This solution realizes, that the insertion movement of the key into thekey slot is limited, in an advantageous manner, by a rib. Only the keycan be inserted, the groove of which opens towards the key end, complements the rib provided at the inside end of the key slot by means of a form filling entrance. Furthermore, the closing combination is additionally increased by the variation of the length and form of the groove, as well as by the dimension of the rib. To provide the groove on one narrow side of the key, brings about the advantage of a simplified production of the key. In order to use the key also as so-called turning key, on each narrow side a groove is provided. The grooves can be arranged in the most different forms. A particularly sensitive formation save against sensing is in a most favorable manner realized by a groove widened towards the then the cylinder core can be rotated. A groove of a false key, which is dimensional for instance too short, displaces the locking member over the releasing position again into a locking position; a groove of the key dimensioned too long, however, brings about, that the locking member is likewise not put in a releasing position.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings in which:

The housing 1 formed as a double profile cylinder has two cylinder cores 3 and 4 mounted rotatably independently fromeach other in the core bores 2 and disposed on an axis. The cylinder cores 3 and 4 have at their oppositely disposed ends the grooves 5, in which spring rings 6 insert themselves and secure the cylinder cores 3 and 4 against axial displacement in the housing 1. With the collar 7 limiting the grooves 5 the cylinder cores 3 and 4 enter into the ward hub 8, so that the latter is rotatably mounted on the cores 3 and 4. The joint connection of the ward hub 8 takes places by means of the corss pin, 9 where a displaceable coupling member 10, which in known manner, engaged by the key, enters with projections 11 alternately into the cylinder core ends.
In the flange 12 of the housing 1 formed as a double profile cylinder, which flange 12 projects readially to the core, are provided two paralleltumbler rows with pins 13 which sit set-off relative to each other, which are formed with multiple edges and which guide themselves non-rotatably in corresponding recesses 14 of the flange 12. The pins l3are engaged by srpings 15 and are flush with the core pins'l6 likewise formed with multiple edges and which are arranged'for a longitudinal displacement in thebores 17 of the cores. In order to make possible an easily moving closing, the end faces F of the pairs of tumbler pins are formed in adjustment to the slide gap G of the core to be of curved configuration.
With its trunketed cone end 16, the core pins 16 enter'into the key slot 18, which is disposed in symmetrical cross position to the flange 12 and which is closed up on the one narrow side by the filling member 19. The outer side face 20 of the filling member 19 is formed curved and supports itself on the wall of the core bore 2. In order that the axial non-displaceable position of the filling member 19 is secured, the latter has the projecting wings 21, which enter cut outs 22 of the cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively. I
In accordance with FIGS. 1 5 the lock has on the filling member 19 at the inner side end of the key slot 18 a roof-like rib '24 forming an abutment for the key 23. The key 23 is for this purpose equipped with grooves 25 formed in accordance with the rib 24 and open at the narrow sides to the end of the key, so that the latter can be used as so called turn key.
The length of the grooves 25 is dimensioned such, that upon insertion of the key 23 through the rib 24 an abutment limit is obtained. In this abutment position, the core pins 16 enter into the recesses 26 provided on the wide faces of the key 23, so that the separation gap between the core pins 16 and the pins 13 comes to lie on the slide gap G of the cylinder core and the cylinder core can be rotated (see FIG. 3).
For the better insertion of the key 23 into the key slot 18, the key is roof-like inclined at its front end.
In FIGS. 6 12 the cylinder lock is coordinated to a so called main key arrangement. The cylinder core disposed on the left side can be closed for instance only by means of an individual key 28 and the cylinder core 29 dispose on the right side by an individual key 30. Both cylinder cores 27 and 29 can be closed, however, by the main key 31.
The resesses 26 on the wide faces of the individual keys 28 and 30, as well as of the main key 31 are coordinated to the tumbler pins 13 and 16. A plurality of recesses of the main key 31 differ'from the recesses of the individual keys 28 and 30, (see FIG. 10 to 12). For the recesses between individual andmain keys disposed in a deviating manner are coordinated, the multipart flange sided tumbler pins 13 and 13; such, thatthe two separating gaps T and T are formed.
If for instance, as shown in FIG. 8, the individual key 28 is inserted into the cylinder core 27, the pins of the key 28 are arranged such, that the separating gap T between the core pin 16 and the pin 13' aligns itself with the slide gap G of the cylinder core 27 and the cylinder core 27 can be rotated. In FIG. 9 the main key'3l is inserted into the cylinder core 27. Thepins are. arranged such, that now the separating gap T between the pin 13 and pin 13 if disposed on the same plane with the separating slide gap G of the cylinder core 27. The cylinder core 27 isrotatable by means of the key 31.
In accordance with the second embodiment, shown in FIGS. 13 to 23, the cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively, has in a recess 33' at the rear end section of the key slot 18, being free from the tumblers, a filling member 33 filling out the entire key slot cross-section, the .curved narrow faces 34 of the filling member 33 being disposed in the core slide gap G. The filling member 33 forms the ribs 35. In accordance with these ribs 35, the flat key 36 is equipped on the wide faces with grooves 37 extending merely over the point section 36' of the flat key 36 for the entrance of the ribs 35. The length of the grooves is measured such, that during insertion of the key by the rib 35 an abutment limit is brought about. In this abutment limitation the core pins 16 enter the recesses 38 provided on the wide faces of the key 36, so that the separating gap between the core pins 16 and the flange-sided pins 13 is disposed on the jacketline of the cylinder core and the cylinder core can be rotated (see FIG. 17).
For a better insertion of the key 36 into the key slot 18, the key is roof-like inclined at its front end. Furthermore, the key can be used due to the arrangement of the recesses 38 and the grooves on each wide face as asocalled turn key.
In FIGS. 24 to 27 a deviating second embodiment is disclosed. The cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively, has at the rear end section of thekey slot 18, which is free of tumblers, the radially directed screws 39. The latter sit in threaded bores 40 of the cores and form a set-off pin projection 41 extending into the key slot 18. The diameters of these pin projections 41 as well as the entrance dimension of the projection into the key slot can be chosen of different size. Furthermore, these pin projections limit the entrance path of the corresponding key 42, which is equipped with grooves 43 corresponding with the projections 41.
. In the further varied second embodiment, which is shown in FIGS. 28 to 31, the cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively, has at the rear end section, being free of tumblers, a comb 45 inserted into a cross slot 44 of the sector shape and enters with the differently dimensioned teeth 46 in the key slot 18. The outer side face 47 of the sector shaped comb 45 is disposed in the core slide gap G. The key 48 is equipped with grooves 49 corresponding with those of the teeth 46, so that an end position of the key limited by abutment is brought about by the insertion movement.
In case of these embodiments set forth above, a closing can be performed only with the key, the grooves of the key open to the key end complement each other with the projections disposed at the inner side end of the key slot by a form filling entrance.
In accordance with the embodiment disclosed in FIGS. 32 to 39 the insertion movement of the key is limited. For this purpose the rib 24 can be tapered down towards the insertion end of the key slot 18. Accordingly the key 55 is equipped with grooves 56 widened towards the front end (see FIG. 35).
In the embodiment disclosed in FIGS. 32 to 43, the key 57 has a groove 59 directed crosswise to the grooves 58, whereby a perpendicularly standing abutment edge 60 is achieved. As it is shown in FIG. 34 in pointdotted lines, the groove width and the groove depth can be chosen with different sizes.
The key 57 with the perpendicularly disposed abutment edge 60 is coordinated to the embodiment according to FIGS. 36-to 39, in which the rib 61 sits on a locking member 62 displaceable in longitudinal direction. The locking member 62 guides itself in the groove 63 of the cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively, stands under the effect of aspring 64 and enters into locking position (see FIGS.'36 and 37) with its locking nose 65 into the locking recess 66 of the housing 1.
During insertion of the key 57 into the key slot 18,
the abutment edge 60 of the key displaces the locking member 62 over the rib 61, so that the locking nose 65 is disposed within the range of the annular groove 67. By means of the key 57 the cylinder core 3 and 4, respectively, is rotatable. An opening by means ofa false key, which has for instance a groove which is too short, is prevented, and the locking nose 65 of the locking member 62 enters beyond the range of the annular groove 67 again into a locking position with the locking recess 66 of the housing 1'.
While I have disclosed several embodiments of the present invention it is to be understood that these embodiments are given by example only and not in a limit ing sense.
I claim:
1. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross positwo rows of said tumblers being arranged in said said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are setoff relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on said wide faces thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, and j said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows.
2. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said tumblers have a separating gap, the outer face of said core is curved, and
said separating gap is complementary to the curvature of the outer face of said core.
3. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 1, which includes a filling member closing said key slot on one of its narrow sides and having an outer curved side face, and
said filling member supporting itself with said outer curved side face on the wall of the bore of said core.
4. The cylinder lock, asset forth in cliam 3, wherein said filling member includes a rib extending into said key slot,
said key has on one of its narrow sides a groove extending beyond the point-range of said key and fittingly receiving said rib.
5. The cylinder lock, as setforth in claim 1, wherein atleast one of said tumblers has at least two parts,
and
two separating gaps are provided in said tumblers in superposed position and adjusted into a separating gap of said core.
6. The cylinder block, as set forth in cliam 5, wherein said separating gap of each pair of said tumblers is adjusted tothe slide gap of said core by a complementary curved formation of the end faces.
7. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and includin wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to a longitudinal plane of said flange, and the width of said key slot corresponding substantially to the width of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, I
said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,

8. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, t
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to saidcore and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, i
said tumblers having anon-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows,
projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, i
said rear end-section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end section of said key slot,
said projections comprise ribs of a filing member inserted into said cylinder core, and
said filling member has curved narrow faces.
9. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating'cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, a
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to-said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows,
projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, I
said rear end section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end-section of said key-slot,
said projections comprise radially disposed screws arranged in said core, and
said screws have a set off pin extension projecting into said key slot.
10. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relativ to said recesses of the other of said rows,
projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, i
said rear end-section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end-section of said key slot,
said projections comprise teeth of a comb inserted into a cross-slot of said core, and,
said teeth have a sector shaped cross-section.
11. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key 'slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to a longitudinal plane of said flange, and the width of said key slot corresponding substantially to the width of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting nonrotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, and i said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows,
a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key,
said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key.
12. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, I
said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, v
said key having two rows of recesses on said one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, I
a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key,
said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key, 1
said key has a narrow side and said groove is provided on the narrow side of said key.
13. A clyinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers'of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,-
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows,
a rib disposed at the inner side of said keyslot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, v
said key hasa groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key,
said groove is disposed on each of the narrow sides of said key, the latter being useable in two positions.
14. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 11,
wherein said groove is widened towards the end face of said key.
15. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including a flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
at least two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sittingnon-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key,
said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key,
said core has a spring biased locking member, displaceable in longitudinal direction, and
said rib sits on said locking member.
16. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 15,
wherein said locking member is movable between a locking position and a freeing position.
17. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot,
a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein,
tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses,
a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores,
said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange,
two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange,
said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange,
said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows,
said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers,
said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows,
a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key,
said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the endjof said key,
a filling member closing said key slot on one of its narrow sides, and wherein said filling member includes said rib.

Claims (17)

1. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inseRted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, and the width of said key slot corresponding substantially to the width of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting nonrotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on said wide faces thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, and said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows.
2. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said tumblers have a separating gap, the outer face of said core is curved, and said separating gap is complementary to the curvature of the outer face of said core.
3. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 1, which includes a filling member closing said key slot on one of its narrow sides and having an outer curved side face, and said filling member supporting itself with said outer curved side face on the wall of the bore of said core.
4. The cylinder lock, as set forth in cliam 3, wherein said filling member includes a rib extending into said key slot, said key has on one of its narrow sides a groove extending beyond the point-range of said key and fittingly receiving said rib.
5. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of said tumblers has at least two parts, and two separating gaps are provided in said tumblers in superposed position and adjusted into a separating gap of said core.
6. The cylinder block, as set forth in cliam 5, wherein said separating gap of each pair of said tumblers is adjusted to the slide gap of said core by a complementary curved formation of the end faces.
7. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to a longitudinal plane of said flange, and the width of said key slot corresponding substantially to the width of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, and said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, projections extending over a rear end section of said key slot, and said rear end section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a cross-sectional profile for said end section of said key slot.
8. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged iN said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, said rear end-section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end section of said key slot, said projections comprise ribs of a filing member inserted into said cylinder core, and said filling member has curved narrow faces.
9. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, said rear end section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end-section of said key-slot, said projections comprise radially disposed screws arranged in said core, and said screws have a set off pin extension projecting into said key slot.
10. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, projections extending over a rear end-section of said key slot, said rear end-section is free from said tumblers, thereby providing a crosssectional profile for said end-section of said key slot, said projections comprise teeth of a comb inserted into a cross-slot of said core, and, said teeth have a sector shaped cross-section.
11. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to a longitudinal plane of said flange, and the width of said key slot corresponding substantially to the widtH of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting nonrotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, and said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key.
12. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on said one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key, said key has a narrow side and said groove is provided on the narrow side of said key.
13. A clyinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round crosssection and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, a rib disposed at the inner side of said keyslot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key, said groove is disposed on each of the narrow sides of said key, the latter being useable in two positions.
14. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 11, wherein said groove is widened towards the end face of said key.
15. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including a flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, at least two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key, said core has a spring biased locking member, displaceable in longitudinal direction, and said rib sits on said locking member.
16. The cylinder lock, as set forth in claim 15, wherein said locking member is movable between a locking position and a freeing position.
17. A cylinder lock comprising a rotating cylinder core having a key slot, a key to be inserted in said key slot and including wide faces for providing recesses therein, tumblers in said core adjusted by said key with said recesses, a housing receiving said core and including one flange extending radially to said core and having bores, said key slot being disposed in symmetric cross position to said flange, and perpendicular to longitudinal plane of said flange, two rows of said tumblers being arranged in said flange, said tumblers having a non-round cross-section and sitting non-rotatably in the bores of said flange, said tumblers of one of said rows are set off relative to said tumblers of the other of said rows, said key having two rows of recesses on one wide face thereof corresponding to said two rows of tumblers, said recesses of one of said rows being off set relative to said recesses of the other of said rows, a rib disposed at the inner side end of said key-slot, said rib providing an abutment limit for the sliding on movement of said key, said key has a groove complementary to said rib open towards the end of said key, a filling member closing said key slot on one of its narrow sides, and wherein said filling member includes said rib.
