Abstract
A cyclone separator has in its outlet for the light fraction a vortex finder, the outwardly facing part of which is divided by a plurality of radially disposed partition walls joined by an elongate nave extending coaxially with the separation chamber of the separator. The nave protrudes outwardly from the outlet to constitute a distance member for a wall of a casing for the separator and also to define in conjunction with the casing wall and the end of the outlet an annular slot for radially deflecting the partial flows of the light fraction passing between the partition walls.
Claims (5)
1. A cyclone separator for separating material including fibers suspended in a liquid suspension into a light fraction containing the fibers and a heavy fraction containing rejects, said cyclone separator comprising: a generally conical separation chamber having at its narrow end an outlet for the heavy fraction of the material and at its wide end an outlet for the light fraction of the material; and a vortex finder mounted in the outlet for the light fraction, said vortex finder including an elongate closed nave disposed coaxially with said chamber, and a plurality of partition walls joined along an edge to the nave and radially extending from said nave to a wall of the vortex finder surrounding said nave.
2. The cyclone separator according to claim 1 wherein said nave protrudes from the outer end of said outlet for the light fraction.
3. The cyclone separator according to claim 1 wherein said vortex finder defines a Venturi-shaped nozzle, said nave and said partition walls being disposed in the outwardly facing part of the nozzle.
4. The cyclone separator according to claim 1 wherein said partition walls are flat walls, said edge of the partition walls being parallel to the center axis of the nave.
5. The cyclone separator according to claim 1 and comprising a casing including a wall portion disposed substantially parallel to the outer end of said outlet for the light fraction spaced apart therefrom, and wherein a portion of said nave protrudes from said outlet end into abutment with said wall portion, the protruding nave portion consisting a distance member defining about said nave portion an annular slot of predetermined width between said casing wall portion and said outlet end, said slot deflecting the light fraction in radial direction.
