SUMMAR-Y'OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is an improved guide arrangement of this kind which is quieter in operation and more easily used.
This object and others of the invention will be apparent from the following detailed description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT The illustrated bar-stock guide arrangement, for use on a Swiss bush-type automatic screw machine, comprises a tubular housing that is cross-sectionally divided into an upper part 1 and a lower part 2. These two parts have a U-shaped cross section, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. I
The lower part 2 is fastened to supports 3; .and the upper part 1 is fixed to swivel arms 4, of which only one is shown. These arms are so mounted on pivot pins 5, fixed to the supports 3, that the upper part 1 can swing upwards about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing.
A series of support pieces 6 are simply placed in the upper part 1. Fastening pieces 7 are fixed in the upper 'part by individual screws 8, which also serve to attach the arms 4 to the housing upper part 1. Two supporting rods 9 extend along the length of the housing through-holes in the parts 6 and 7. The portions of these rods between the parts 6 and 7 hold the ends of elastic bar-stock guides 10. These guides have an arcuate middle section, as seen in FIG. 2, and are advantageously in- 5 jection molded and made-from a glass-fiberstrengthened polyamide'. 1
Similar supporting rods 90, support pieces 6a, and fastening pieces 7a are provided in the housing lower part 2 and positioned opposite the corresponding parts 6, 7 and 8.
The usual bar-stock ram, incorporating a flag 12 on its rear end, is indicated by the reference number 11.
Each pair of guides and 10aforms a portion of a straight bar-stock guide channel, which can be opened up, because the housing upper part 1, along with the parts it holds, is free to swing upwards, permitting the bar-stock to be loaded sideways (rather than longitudinally,.as at present) into the guide channel.
housing in cross section is divided into upper and lower parts,
said upper part being free to swing upwards with respect to said lower part for opening up said housing and the bar-stock guide channel andpermittmg sideways loading thereof with bar-stock, and wherein said supporting rods and said elastic guides are divided in number between said housing upper and lower parts, and said-elastic guides therein are positioned opposite each other.
2. The bar-stock guide arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein said supporting rods and elastic guides are equally divided in number between said housing upper and lower parts and those said rods and guides in said housing upper part move therewith when the latter swings upwards.
