This invention relates to statuettes, and more particularly to a hollow figurine in the shape of a saint having a light transmitting halo disk mounted on his head and an electric lamp bulb projecting into said disk to cause said disk to glow uniformly.

One object of the present invention is to provide an illuminated statuette of the above nature, which may also be used as a night light to provide a limited amount of illumination for a nursery or other location in a house, for'devotional purposes, or for use in an automobile or other vehicle.

Another object of the present invention is to provide an illuminated statuette of the above nature which will be simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and manipulate, portable, compact, ornamental in appearance, and very efficient and durable in use.

With these and other objects in view, there has been illustrated on the accompanying drawing, one form in which the invention may conveniently be embodied in practice.

FIG. 1 represents a side view of the illuminated figurine embodying the invention.

FIG. 2 is a side sectional view of the same.

FIG. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view, on an enlarged scale of the inclined illuminated light transmitting halo disk mounted on the top of the figurine body.

FIG. 4 is a fragmentary vertical cross sectional view, taken along the line 44 of FIG. 2, showing the horseshoe magnet for detachably holding the statuette upon the horizontal section of the iron dashboard of an automobile.

Referring now to the drawing, in which like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral indicates a hallow domesh'aped base of a statuette S made in the shape of a saint or other religious figure having a vertical opaque body 11 provided with a hallow bore 12.

The top of the body is provided with an inclined circular halo disk 13 of light-transmitting material such as glass, Plexiglas, plastic or Rexolite. The halo disk 13 has a thin tapered rim 14 and a central recess 15 drilled part way through said disk, within which is housed a lamp bulb 16. The central top area of the halo disk 13 is provided with an opaque plastic cap 17 cemented thereto. The outside rim of the halo disk 13 is roughened or frosted as by sanding or sandblasting to make it nonreflective and so that it will diffuse the light from the bulb 16.

Extending downwardly from the recess 15 of the halo disk 13 are a pair of insulated wires 18, 19 located within the vertical bore 12 and connected through a series resistor 23 with a dry cell 20 having terminals 21, 22

Provision is also made of a circular base plate 25 oifset upwardly from the bottom edge of the hollow domeshaped base 10 and upon which is mounted a horseshoe magnet 26 having downwardly extending bottom tips 27, 28 extending through said plate 25 for detachably clamping the illuminated statuette S to the horizontal section 29 of an iron dashboard of an automobile or other vehicle.

The plastic halo disk 13 is preferably cemented to the top of the head of the vertical statuette body 11, and the recess 15 is adapted to house the electric lamp bulb 16 snugly therewithin, as clearly shown in the drawing.

While there has been disclosed in this specification one form in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that this form is shown for the purpose of illustration only, and that the invention is not limited to this specific disclosure but may be modified and embodied in various other equivalent forms without depart ing from its spirit.

In short, the invention includes all the modifications and embodiments coming within the scope of the following claim.

Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new and for which it is desired to secure Letters Patent is:

A decorative figurine comprising a hollow base having a permanent magnet mounted therein for releasably securing said base to a paramagnetic surface, a source of electrical power in said base, a switch electrically connected to said power source, an upstanding body attached to said base and having the shape of a saint or the like and including a head, said head having a fiat surface thereon and said body having an opening therein which at one end communicates with said flat surface and which opening passes through said body and at its other end communicates with said hollow base, a circular halo disk of translucent material having a generally flat surface on one side thereof which engages said fiat head surface, said halo disk further having a centrally disposed blind opening therein communicating and aligned with said opening in said body, an electrically energizable lamp bulb located at least in part in said central blind opening of said halo disk, wires passing through said opening in said body electrically connecting said lamp bulb to said power source through said switch, and a disk of opaque material at least partially covering the side of said halo disk opposite from said flat surface, said disk of opaque material being concentric with said halo disk.
