Description
1 1967 1 2. J. SEPANSKI 3,298,648
BABY BOTTLE HOLDER Filed April 8, 1966 1 N VENTOR 05554: J. 5524Ws/r/ United States Patent 3,298,648 BABY BOTTLE HOLDER Russell Lsepanski, 4034 S. Caulfield, Milwaukee, Wis. 53207 Filed Apr. 8, 1966, Ser. No. 541,262 3 Claims. (Cl. 248103) This invention relates generally to baby bottle holders. More specifically it relates to bottle holders of self-feeding type.
It is generally well known to those skilled in the art that it is a time consuming chore to hold a bottle for a baby while feeding the same. Such chore is usually attended by the mother who is already heavily taxed with duties of attending to the infant and accordingly the additional loss of time in holding the bottle for the infant is an undesirable situation.
Accordingly, it is a principal object of the present invention to provide a baby bottle holder having self-contained means for supporting the bottle while the baby is feeding therefrom.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a baby bottle holder having self-contained adjustable means whereby the bottle may be comfortably accommodated for any size of child placed at various positions relative to the holder.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a baby bottle holder wherein the bottle may be adjusted in elevation and the angle of inclination for maximum comfort to the infant.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a baby bottle holder having auxiliary amusement features so to hold the childs attention during the feeding operation and thereby promote the childs continuation of the feeding.
Another further object is to provide a baby bottle holder wherein the bottle may be replaced after feeding operation and substituted with an amusement toy to permit the holder to be used at such time solely for amusement purposes.
Other objects are to provide a baby bottle holder which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efiicient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specifications and accompanying drawing wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown in operative use, and
FIGURE 2 is an end elevation view thereof shown partly in cross-section.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral represents a baby bottle holder according to the present invention wherein there is a base 11 to which there is supported an upstanding post 12, the post providing a support means for an arm 13 having means for selectively supporting a baby feeding bottle 14 or an amusement toy 15.
The base 11 is of generally rectangular configuration having parallel opposite edges 16 and parallel opposite end edges 17. The base may be made to include a relatively stiff lower member 18, made of solid rubber or the like for purpose of providing a support for the post, and the base further includes an upper member 19 to serve as a soft pillow which may be made of sponge rubber 20 or the like which is enclosed within a water-proof covering 21, the latter being made of soft plastic or thin flexible rubber.
The post comprises an upstanding vertical member having a clip 22 at its lower end which may be removably snapped over the edge -16 of the base, and the post having one or more longitudinal slots 23 along its length to provide an adjustable means of supporting the arm 13.
The arm 13-includes an extension 24 having a threaded opening 25 at one end for receiving a clamping bolt 26 for securing the arm to the post. Separate or integral washers 27 and 28, one of which may be integral in the arm and the other with the bolt, provide broad surface friction means against the sides of the post. At the 0pposite end of the arm a friction loop 29 is removably secured thereto. The bottle 14 may be inserted into the loop. The friction loop 29 may be provided having an integral rod that is receivable within an opening in the end of the arm 13, thereby providing securement means for the friction loop upon the arm.
At the upper end of the post there is a bent rod 30 secured thereto by a rivet 31 or the like, the opposite end of the rod providing a means for supporting a colorful mobile 32, an attractive butterfly design 33 or other toy supported by a string 34 from the end of the rod.
In operative use the loop 29 may be inserted into the end or otherwise threaded into the end of the arm 13 and a baby bottle 14 may be frictionally inserted and retained within the loop. The arm 13 may then be raised or lowered to accommodate a child 35 placed upon the pillow 19 of the base. The bottle may be tilted to a convenient angle of inclination for the child. When not in use, the device may be used for amusing the child by simply replacing the loop with a toy such as is shown in FIGURE 2 wherein a jingle bell 15 is supported from a string 36 from the end of the arm. It will thus be readily evident that during feeding time the attraction toys or the like supported at the end of the rod 30 will hold the childs attention during the feeding time while being relatively out of the childs reach. Obviously a toy may be suspended therefrom which will be within the childs reach if so preferred. When the device is not in use the post may be removed from the base and the arm removed from the post so that the parts may be stored in a relatively small amount of space.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction it is readily understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. In a baby bottle holder the combination of a base, a post, said post being supported in upstanding position on said base, an arm extending horizontally, said arm being supported adjustably on said post, said arm having means selectively supporting a baby infant bottle or an amusement toy, said base comprising a relatively stiff lower member to provide a support means for said post and an upper member having pillow characteristics so to provide a soft cushion for a child placed there upon, said post comprising an elongated vertical member having a clip at its lower end, said clip being removably secured to an edge of said lower member of said base, said post having elongated slot means along its length, and said slot means providing adjustment means for supporting said arm.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein said arm comprises an elongated horizontal extension, a threaded opening at one end for receiving a threaded bolt therein, said end of said extension being placed adjacent one side of said post, said bolt being placed adjacent and opposite side of said post and being threaded into said extension, and the opposite end of said arm having a removable loop, said loop having means for frictionally engaging an infant bottle inserted therein.
3. The combination as set forth in claim 2 wherein the upper end of said post has a bent rod which supports at its opposite end an amusement toy.
