cots in position, whereby said cot may be eas-' ily and readily removed and replaced, the finger-joint allowed perfect freedom, and the circulation of the blood in the finger benot impeded. This object is accomplished by providing a separable metallic ring, which is adapted to pass through slots in an extended part on the front side of the cot, and then pass over the finger and be adjustably connected below the middle joint, as will be hereinafter more fully described. Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof, and on which similar letters of reference indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a human hand, one finger being protected by a cot. held in position by my improved ring; Fig. 2, a central section of the ring shown in Fig. 1,- Fig. 3, a similar View on an enlarged scale; Figs. 4., 5, and 6, similar views, showing alternate constructions of the fastening for the ring; and Fig. 7, a perspective view of still another alternate'construction. In said drawings, the portions marked A represent the cot, and B the ring. The cot A is of any suitable material and of any desired size or shape. For general use it is preferably constructed as shown, the back part extending down the back of the finger only to a point just above the middle joint of said finger, thus permitting the unincumbered and easy use of said joint. Its front part is extended down near to the lower part of the finger. In this extended part are formed slots a, longitudinally thereof, through which the ring passes, and is thus attached to said cot. The ring B is of any suitable material, preferably of some metal which is somewhat elastic, thereby adapting it to bemore readily adjusted, as will be presently more fully dc"- scribed. It is a separable ring with its ends overlapping. Suitable fastenings are preferably provided on said ends for connecting them together.

The form of fastening which I regard as Fig. 4, where a series of holes in the top piece and one stud on the under piece are used, instead of the opposite construction just described. Fig. 5 shows a constructionwherein the ends of the ring are held together by the rings own elasticity. Fig. 6 shows a construction wherein the ends of the ring are secured together by forming notches in their contiguous faces, which are adapted to engage with each other. In the construction shown in Fig. 7 notches are formed in the side of the top end, and corresponding portions of the edge of the under end are turned up and adapted to engage with said notches, thus securing the ring together.

v It will be'readily understood that a variety of fastenings may be employed for securing these ends together, several of which I have shown as alternate constructions; and .I do not therefore desire to be understood as limiting myself to any one of them, but regard as my invention a separable ring for holding finger-cots in position, which is adapted to pass over the finger to a convenient place thereon, and then be adjusted to the proper size to hold said cot securely in place.

Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. .The combination of a finger-cot and a separable ring, the ends of said separable ring "being adapted to be adjustably secured together, and said cot being adapted to be secured to said ring, whereby said cot may be readily secured in place, substantially as set forth.
