Description

UNITED STATES PATENT EETC,
HJALMAR WYNBLAD, OE VEST HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY.
MoUsING-HOOK.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 29,029, dated July 8, 1860.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HJALMAR VYNBLAD, of Vest Hoboken, county of Bergen, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Construction of Hooks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which said drawings- Figure l, is a side view of the hook, when locked; Fig. 2, the same when unlocked, and F ig. 3, a detached ring in plan.
I construct my hook with a oint a so that it can be opened as in Fig. 2, or shut as shown in Fig. l, with a projection j) and a ring 7, having a recess or notch on the inner periphery to correspond with the projection p on the joint ci. Attached to the hook is a spring s, which when the hook is locked, falls in the notch n, and prevents the ring from turning. In that position the solid part of the ring has a bearing upon the projection p, and the ring cannot be pushed down. To unlock the hook, the spring s must be pushed back, the ring /l' turned around till the notch n comes immediately opposite the projection p, and then pushed down over the projection to make the joint a free to be opened.
The object of this invention is for the obtaining a simple, secure and eticient mousing of hooks for certain purposes without the use of ropes, screws, &c.
I claim as my invention- Constituting a new article of manufacture, the projection p, on the hook, the ring r, having a recess or notch n, on the inner periphery, and the spring s, arranged substantially as and for the purpose specified.
HJALMAR VVYNBLAD.
