claims. (c1. 311-1) This invention relates to a portable table to be used by chiropractors in making spinal adjustments. i

It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a chiropractic table which will be portable and be readily carried by one person.
A further object of the invention is to provide a chiropractic table which will enable the cushions thereof to fold and thereby permit longitudinal collapsing of the table.
A stillfurther object of the invention is to provide a portable chiropractic table which will be light in weight and whichwill retain the basic pad adjustments found ou larger tables.
l A still `further object of the invention is to provide a simple means for adjusting the cushions to accommodate various patient weights.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as will be more fully described and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

"` Referring now to the accompanying drawings, there is shown` aportable chiropractic table having two leg members.10 and 11 which are joined together by extendable ,frames or pivoting X frames 12, there being two such 2,965,425 Patented nee, zo, 1960 FCC lThe scissor or X frame l2 is made up by a plurality of generally flat bars which are pivoted to each other at the ends thereof and also at the central portion. Each frame has one free end thereof pivotally attached to the yvertical leg pieces 10' and` 11 as at 13 and 14, the other free ends of the frame being attached to the upright members 10 and 11' by a bolt and thumb screw arrangement 15, the bolt being adapted to slide in slots 16, 17 in the leg members 10 and 11 respectively. Accordingly, when the leg members 10 and 11 are moved close together,
the slots 16 and 17, while in the extended position as .shown in Figure 2, they will lie at or near the bottom thereof. Accordingly, it will be seen that with this arrangement the two leg frame sections 10 and 11 may be brought together or separated and at all times will remain in parallelism to each other.
On to the frame structure just described, there is mounted a pair of head cushions 1S, a chest cushion 19, an abdominal cushion 20, and a leg or lower body cushion 21. The head cushion 18 is made of two generally rectangular padded sections 18A and 18B which are joined together at each end by transverse support members 22, 22 and are hingedly related to the horizontal member 10" as by hinges 23, 23. The head cushion is supported in either a horizontal or plurality of adjusted positions `by means of a support bracket generally designated 24. This bracket consists of a rst member 25 (see Figs. 4 and 5) which is pivotally related to the transverse member 10A of the leg frame 10 by au angle bracket 26 and along the longitudinal extent of themember 25 is an `elongated slot 27 provided with a plurality of detents 2S.
The second part of the bracket 24 consists of anoter bar `29 which at one end thereof has a pin 3i) that is adapted to be received in the elongated slot 27 and engaged nin one tially in a straight line, one edge of the bar 29 is provided with an overhanging lip 31 (see Fig. 6) which engages one edge of the bar 25. The other end of the bar 29 is provided with a pin 32 which is adapted to be receivediin a slot 33 having two detents 34 all of which are formed in an angle bracket 35 attached to transverse member 22. It will be apparent from the above described structure that the head cushion 11S may be placed in a variety of adjusted positions by changing the point of engagement of the pins 32 and 30 with their respective slots having the detents 34 and 38 respectively. Further, it will be apparent that this particular structure will easily jacknife, the part 25 rotating in a general clockwise direction as viewed in Figure 5 while the part 29 rotates about pivot point 30 in a general counterclockwise direction to the position shown in broken line. This permits complete folding of the head cushion 18 parallel to the leg frame structure 10A, a cutout portion 36 being provided in the bar 29 thus permitting saidl bar to lie substantially parallel to the leg member 10, the cut out 36 embracing the transverse member 10A.
The chest cushion 19 is hingedly related to the upper horizontal member 10" of the leg frame structure 10 by hinges 39, 39'. Similarly the abdominal cushion 20 is hingedly related to the upper horizontal member 11" by hinges 40, 40' and since the two cushions are supported in adjusted position in identical manners, only the chest cushion 19 will be described and similar but prime numerals will be used for like parts that are associated with the abdominal cushion. Referring now to Figure 5, the
.chest cushion 19 may be supported in a general horizontal j plane through a bracket assembly generally designated 41.
This assembly consists of two bars 42 and 43 which are pivotally related to each other as at 44, the other end of the bar 42 being hingedly related to the underside of chest cushion 19 by means of an angle bracket such as 45 and j. .e the other end of the bar 43 being hingedly related to the transverse member 10A of the leg frame 10 by means of an angle bracket 46. From-the above description, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that there is described herein a portable chiropractic table with 'allbf the necessary cushions for performing.,body adjustments and particularly one which is extremely portable, which portability maybe ,enhanced by constructing the rigid and main frame'rnembe'rs'frr light and yeptstrong metallic materialssuch as `the various alloys of aluminum and magnesium that are now available. Further the table is cap/able of"all the necessary adjustments that are used in making the body adjustments and is of simple construction requiring no unusual servicing through use.
