One of the objects o-f'my invention isito provide drapery holding means? or; fittings capable of being readily securedto the. curtain rod in a manner'to support the-endsof the valancein a desired position with respect to the adjacent ends of the side drapes.

Another object of my invention is to provide means of the foregoing described character which is so constructed and arranged whereby a single length of material may be supportedat the upper corners of a window in a manner to provide not only the side drapes but the valance.

A further object of my invention is to provide means of the foregoing described character which is simple in construction, durable in use, efi'icient in operation, and economical in manufacture.

An important object of my invention is to provide means of the foregoing described character capable of being attached to curtain rods already in use without employing tools and by persons other than those highly skilled in interior decorating and the like.

' it would be impractical to secure any mea'nsyto" the casing whereby the drapes andvalancejcould be hung" without presenting an untidy and crowded appearance. In order to provide sufficient space for the drapes between the window frame and the wall I0, I provide a pair of drapery fittings or members l2 adapted to be secured to the curtain rod and over the curtain, adjacent the ends of the rod respectively, and in sumcient spaced relation with any wall in close proximity to the frame so as to permit proper hanging and adjusting of the drapes and valance without crowding and presenting an untidy appearance.

Each of the members 12 is relatively long and narrow and is arched between its ends to provide a one-piece U-shaped body having end and bowed portions [3 and M, respectively, with the bowed portion l4 connecting the end portions l3 together in spaced and parallel relation. The free end of one of the end portions I3 is reversely and outwardly bent to provide a curtain rod hook I5 for disposal over the rod 8. The section l6 of the hook, adjacent the jointure with the end portion I3, is outwardly and downwardly inclined while the remaining section I! is disposed in substantial parallelism with the portion I3 to effect wedging of the curtain rod and curtain thereof within the hook for retaining the fitting in fixed position on the rod as illustrated in Figure 4.

When the fittings l2 are secured to the curtain rod 8 with the curtains 9 suspended therefrom, a length of drapery material is disposed within the bowed portions I4 of the members to provide the side drapes "land the valance 19 as clearly illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing. Obviously, by adjusting the members 12 relative to the ends of the curtain rod 14, the distance required for disposing the drapes [8 between any adjacent wall and one of the members may be obtained to present a neat and tidy appearance. be apparent, my invention permits a onepiece length of drapery material to be used, without cutting, as the side drapes l8 and valance l9 to enhance the appearance of a window, it being understood that the valance I9 is arranged adjacent the members H to conceal the latter by having at least a fold thereofdisposed over the front faces of'the members. -While in actual reduction to practice, I have constructed the members [2 of metal, it is to be understood that theymay be constructed of any other desirable and suitable material. Furthermore, the material used may be somewhat resilient in order that the hooks l5 of the members may be securely clamped to the rod 8.

Without further elaboration, the foregoing will so fully explain the invention that others may, by applying current knowledge, readily adapt the same for use under various conditions of service. Morever, it is not indispensable that all the features of the invention be used conjointly since they may be employed advantageously in various combinations and subcombinations.

It is obvious that the invention is not confined to the herein described use therefore as it may be utilized for any purpose to which it is adaptable. It is therefore to be understood that the invention is not limited to thespecific construction as illustrated and described, as the same is only illustrative of the principles involved which are, capable of extended application in.

What I claim is:

In combination, a. curtain rod adapted to be As Will supportingly attached to a window casing and having relatively narrow top and bottom faces and relatively wide and fiat rear and front faces, a curtain mounted on said rod, and a drapery fitting secured to and supported by said rod and over said curtain, said fitting comprising a relatively long and narrow body of resilient material arched between its ends and defining a U-shaped member provided with spaced front and rear end portions, said rear end portion being disposed in parallelism with said front face and formed with an outwardly and reversely bent portion coacting with said rear end portion to define an inverted substantially U-shaped hook, said bent portion being provided with an end section disposed in parallelism with said rear face and with its lower end terminating in close proximity to said bottom face, said bent portion being formed with a coupling section extending over said top face and connecting said end section and said rear end portion together in spaced relation, said rear end portion coacting with said end section to clamp said member to said rod and over said.
