The present invention relates to a unique rubber or an equivalent head construction resemblin a brush and which is herein aptly classified, it is believed, as a massaging, exhilarating and loose material collecting device which, while primarily adapted for use in conjunction with a human scalp, is useful as an invigorator for the arms, limbs and other body parts.

The invention has reference to a structural unit of distinctive structural form which while usable by itself for massaging and invigorating the scalp, is preferably constructed to be used in conjunction with a hose on a vacuum cleaner and to thus utilize the vacuum forces for picking up and conveniently disposing of dust, lint, dandruff and body surface deposits in the same general category. Alternatively, the device may be used on the discharge side of a vacuum cleaner in conjunction with a hose and employed as a hair drier. It is especially useful in its firstnamed capacity after one has gotten a haircut and desires, without necessarily having to wash the hair and scalp, to remove the loose hair clippings and the attending annoyances encountered when the particles scatter on the neck, face and other body parts.

To be sure, there are many applicators and massaging appliances and heads known in the prior art. It is the purpose of the instant invention to structurally, functionally and otherwise improve upon similarly constructed and performing adaptations. To this end, one aspect of the invention has to do with the adoption and use of a one-piece rubber construction, a rubbing and invigorating surface which is made up of a multiplicity of teat-like nodules, a head which has a concave surface promoting accommodation and adaptability especially in conjunction with flexible nodules, a structure which is easy to clean and keep clean and which lends itself to ready attachment to an attaching or coupling sleeve on the hose of a vacuum cleaner.

Another object of the invention has to do with the provision of a simple, practical and economical massaging device the use of which is intended to stimulate the flow of blood to the scalp andother body surfaces and also to clean loose lint, dust, dandruff and foreign materials from body surfaces.

Referrin now to the drawings by reference numerals and accompanying lead lines, the entire unit, as before stated, is a one-piece construction and is exceptionally simple in form and style and is preferably made from compressibly resilient rubber of a good grade inasmuch as the same is to be used in contact with the human anatomy. The rubber should be flexibly resilient for strength and conformability when pressure is applied during the course of massaging the scalp or other body surfaces. A principal characteristic is the substantially circular head 4. This has a convex surface 6 and the bottom is concave as at 8. There is an axially disposed integral neck Ill carrying an elbow-like attaching nipple [2 which is adapted in practice to be applied to a metal or equivalent coupling sleeve on the intake end of the usual suction hose of a conventional type vacuum cleaner (not shown).

The passage is L-shaped as at l4 and opens through the axial center of the concave side of the head. This latter side is provided with a multiplicity of teat-like bosses which are herein referred to as massaging nodules I 6. These have blunt pointed terminals for safety in usage. This device is to be used with :a circular motion, and the rubber construction coupled with the many rubber prongs of solid construction lend a natural mechanical massaging action along with the suction massage.

By coupling the hose at the reverse or blowing end of a conventional vacuum cleaner the unit can be used for warm massaging by taking advantage of the vacuum cleaner motor heat. It can also be used as a hair drying unit in this :same manner. It can also be used completely unit when shampooing head.

It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.

Minor changes in shape, size and arrangement of details coming within the field of invention claimed may be resorted to in actual practice, if desired. 7

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A massaging and dandruff loosening and collectlng attachment for a vacuum cleaner hose comprising a circular concavo-convex head having-an L-shaped portion providing a complemental neck and an attaching nipple, said head having a centralized openin communicating with the :bore of the neck and nipple for centrally concentrating air either discharging from or drawn through said opening, the working face of said head being concave and provided with a multiplicity of protruding teat-like flexibly resilient nodules, said face being further provided with circumferentially spaced equidistant radial grooves, the grooves opening at their inner ends intosaid opening and opening at their outer ends by way of the marginal edge of said head.
