'Thusdheliquidiromreservoir '9 -ris fallowed to :How `baok .into .outlet M -through port I6 and passageway I 1 to outlet I3 from which it returns to the water column on which the pulsator operates, if it is needed. Obviously if the water column is adequate and there is no air space between it and the pulsator only enough liquid will iiow from the reservoir to fill conduit fl and conduit 8 through the primer. In this manner the water column is always maintained against the operative mechanism of the pulsator which is Vessential to the proper and efficient operation of the pump assembly.
I claim:
1. An automatic pump assembly primer for combination with a pump and a liquid reservoir comprising a hollow casing provided with an inlet port and two outlet ports, Va channel connecting the inlet port with one of the outlet ports, a movable valve member in said channel normally closing it, a separate passageway vconnecting the two outlet ports through said channel, said valve member movable under pressure of liquidentering the inlet port to close said passageway and open said channel to permit liquid to ilow therethrough, said valve member returnable to its original position to open the passageway to permit liquid to flow from one outlet -to and from the other outlet when liquid ceases to be forced into the inlet port.
. 2. An automatic pump assembly primer for combination' with a pump and a liquid reservoir comprising a hollow casing, an inlet pump port, an outlet port, a reservoir port, a channel leading from the inlet pump port to the reservoir por t,a separate passageway leading from the outlet port to the channel, a slidable valve member in said channel normally closing the channel below the passageway but movable 'to open the channel and close the passageway to alternately permit ow from the' inlet port through the channel to the reservoir port and from the reservoir port through the passageway to the outlet port. l
3. An automatic pump assembly primer com" prising a hollow casing, an inlet port, an outlet reservoir port and an outlet primer port, an irreversible inlet valve in said inlet port, a channel leading from said inlet port tovsaid reservoir port,
a passageway leading from said outlet primer port r and joining the upper part of said channel below the reservoir port, a movable valve in said channel normally positioned below the pointof juncture ofthe passageway and the channel and closing the channel, said valve adapted to be moved upwardly to open the channel to connect the inlet port with the reservoir port and simultaneously close the vpassageway and returnable to open the. passageway to connect the reservoir port with the outlet primer port and close the channel.
4. An automatic pump assembly primer comprising a hollow casingpan-inlet port, an outlet reservoir port and an outlet primer port, a tubular channel connecting the inlet port with the reservoir. port, a passageway leading from the outlet primer port to the upper part of the channel, a slidable tubular valve member normally closing the channel below its upper port, yan-outlet in the .upper side part of said valve memberysaid member movable upwardly in said channel under pressure of water entering said` inlet port to connect saidchannel with the reservoir port through its outlet and to simultaneously close said passageway and means for returning the member to a point below the upper part of the channel to open the passageway from the reservoir port to the outlet primer port.
5. An automatic pump assembly primer comprising a'hollow casing, a lower inlet port adjacent the bottom of the casing, an intermediate primer port, an upper reservoir port, a channel leading from the inlet port to the reservoir port, a separate passageway leading from the primer port and connecting with the upper part of the channel below the reservoir port, a hollow, capped, valve member slidably positioned in said channel below its upper part to close said channel, means resiliently holding it in said position, an outlet port in the 'side of said valve member adjacent its capped top and normally closed by the wall of said channel, said member movable upwardly to align its outlet with the reservoir port to open the channel from the inlet port and at the same time close said passageway, whereby liquid may flow from the inlet port through the channel and out of the reservoir port when in its upper position and whereby in its normal position liquid may iiow from the reservoir port through the passageway and out of the primer port,
6. An automatic pump assembly primer comprising a hollow casing, a lower inlet port adjacent the bottom of the casing, an intermediate primer port, an upper reservoir port, a channel leading from the inlet port to the reservoir port, a separate passageway leading from the primer port and connecting with the upper part of the channel below the reservoir port, a hollow, capped, valve member slidably positioned in said channel below its upper part to close said channel, means resiliently holding it in said position, an outlet port in the side of said valve member adjacent its capped top and normally closed by the wall of said channel, an air vent in the side of said valve member below the outlet port, said member movable upwardly under pressure of liquid entering the lower inlet lport to align its outlet port with the reservoir port and the air vent with the passageway but otherwise closing said passageway, whereby liquid entering the inlet port under pressure will flow through the channel and out of the reservoir port and air will be drawnthrough the vent from the primer port, and when the inflow of liquid -ceases the valve will return to nor* mal position and liquid will iiow from the reser- Voir port through the passageway and mit of the primer port.
7. In combination with a pulsator, a pump and a4 reservoir, an automatic primer comprising a hollow casing having an inlet port, a primer port and a reservoir port, a conduit connecting the pump with the inlet port, a conduit connecting the pulsator with the primer port, a conduit connecting the reservoir port with the reservoir, a channel in the primer connecting the inlet port with the reservoir port, a separate passageway connecting the primer port with the reservoir port, a slidable Valve member in 'said channel normally closing it but movable to open it and close the passageway whereby in closed position liquid from the reservoir will flow therefrom to the pulsator if needed and in open position liquid will be directed from the pump tothe reservoir.
