This invention relates to new and useful improvements in carriers and the primaryobject of the present invention is to provide a carrier including novel and improved means for conveniently applying the same to the shoulders of a wearer in a comfortable position.

Another important object of the present invention is to provide a laundry aid including a clothes receiving bag and a plurality of clothes pin engaging pockets which are easily accessible to a user.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a shoulder type clothes carrier so designed as to facilitate the same to retain clothes, clothes pins or the like in such a position relative to a wearer that both of the wearers hands will be available for hanging, removing or shaking clothes.

A still further aim of the present invention is to provide a clothes carrier that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, small and compact in structure, neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part thereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the present clothes carrier, and with parts broken away and shown in section;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary side elevational view of the shoulder harness used in conjunction with the present invention, the bag retaining band applied thereto, and with parts of the harness and band broken away and shown in section; and

Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view taken substantially through the center of the present clothes retainer, and with parts of the shoulder engaging strap broken away.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numerals I0 and I2 represent a pair of hanger straps the upper ends of which terminate in arcuate shoulder engaging hooks [4 having outwardly turned end portions [6. Suitably fixed 0n the shoulder engaging hooks I 4, are cushion members or pads [8 that comfortably engage the shoulders of a wearer.

Connecting and spacing the lower ends 20 of the hanger straps I0 and I2, is a cross bar 22 the ends of which are pivotally and removably 2 V secured to the lower ends 20 of the hanger straps. l'lland :l 2 by fasteners orthe likez i. 1

The numeral 26 represents an arcuate retainer band which is provided with inwardly turned end portions 28 having suitable apertures 30 that selectively oppose one of a plurality of longitudinally spaced openings 32 provided in the hanger straps Ill and I2. Fasteners 34 extend through the apertures 30 in a selected one of the openings 32 for adjustably and removably attaching the retainer band relative to the hanger straps I0 and I2. These fasteners 34 also extend through the ends of an arcuate waist engaging band 36 that braces the hanger straps and which also retains the hanger straps spaced relative to each other.

In order to receive clothing or the like, there is provided a flexible bag 38 the open end 40 of which is folded inwardly and secured to itself by stitching or the like to provide a peripheral sleeve 42 that slidably engages the retainer band 26 and the waist engaging band 36, there being notches or cut cuts 44 provided in the sleeve 42 to facilitate the removal of the back from either the band 25, band 36 or both of said bands 26 and 36 for washing and cleaning of the said bag.

Secured to the outer surface or wall of the bag 38 along the lower longitudinal edges and side edges by stitching or the like, is a plurality of flexible, rectangular strips of washable material 46 that provide clothes pin engaging pockets.

In practical use of the present invention, the same is comfortably applied to the shoulders of a wearer so that the hanger straps l0 and I2 oppose the wearers chest and the band 36 comfortably engages the wearers waist with the bag 38 disposed in front of the wearer to retain clothes or the like in a conveniently accessible position.

Obviously, by the use of such a device, a wearer may employ both hands for shaking, hanging or removing clothes or the like and may reach into the pockets 46 to remove the clothes pins therefrom without the necessity of having to walk back and forth between a table or the like on which such pins are usually retained.

When not in use, by removing the fasteners 34 and 24, the hanger straps l0 and I2, the cross bar 22, the retaining band 26, the waist engaging band 36, and the bag 38, may .be quickly and readily removed 0r disassembled from each other to facilitate the convenient packing or storing of the present clothes carrier.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing it 3 is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claim.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A clothes carrier comprising a pair of spaced hanger straps, shoulder engaging hooks at one end of each of said straps, cushioning means completely embracing said hooks, an arcuate retainer band, means removably securing the ends of said retainer band relative to said straps, brace means between the ends of said retainer band, a. connecting bar carried .by said straps, a flexible bag having a sleeve portion at its open end receiving said retainer band, a plurality of pockets carried 4 by said bag, and a further sleeve portion at the upper end of said bag receiving said brace means, said brace means including an arcuate waist engaging arm having the ends secured to the straps by said first mentioned means.
