This invention relates to form walls for pouring concrete.
,An important object of my invention y.is to provide form wall sections of unit type construe-,- tion which can be assembled to producelwalls of various dimensions and proportions, and which can be repeatedly used on successive jobs.
The formV wall sections, which may be in the shape of panels of plywood, metal or other structural material, preferably of rectangular or square outline, are provided with reinforcing and protective edging strips or angles whichprovide projecting metal flanges by which adjacent sections may be secured together. In thisway, by joining section tol section, both horizontally andvertic'ally, a wall of desired length and height can be erected. To provide for the maintenance of two walls in parallel relation at the proper distance apart for the pouring space, eachfsection is perforated at uniform intervals along each of itsV four edges for the reception of tie rods or wires of uniform predetermined lengthwhich extend through the panel and reinforcing strips and` across the intervening space between the two walls. These tie wires, when locked in place, serve as distance pieces for the two walls. Referringto Figure 1 of the drawing, I have here shown inperspective view, with parts in section, thev general relationship of the panels and reinforcing strips of the wall sections and the tie wires extending between two parallel walls. Each Wall section has a panel vIIl reinforced and protected along its edges by rein-V forcing stripsA II`suitably secured thereto.- The panels I Il may be of, for example, plywood, and the'reinforcing strips of steel. The reinforcing strips are preferably of angle iron section to provide base flanges II and projecting flanges I2, as shown in Figures 1 to '4 inclusive, or they may be of .T-section as illustrated in Figure 5'. In Figure 5, the base flange I3 of the reinforcing strip'has theV inwardly extending flange IIIand the projecting llange I5. The base flange I3 and the inwardly extending flange I4 are secured to the panel I0 by suitable screws I6 and I'I. The projecting flanges I 2 (Figure l) are provided with transverse slots I8 lto receive the wire loops I9 formed on the projecting ends of the tie wires V2Il, as will be hereinafter explained. Similar solts 2| are formed in the projecting flanges I5, asl shown in'y Figure `5,V for a similar,4 purpose. These slots I8 of the projecting flangesl I2 are distributed at uniform spacing 'along each projecting' flange in registration with perforations 22 of the baseflanges II. Perforations' 22 extend through the panels I0 to receive the tie wires 20 which extend across the space from one wall to the other. It will-loe understood that similar provision is made-in the base flanges and panels of the construction; shown in Figure 5. The slttedprojecting flanges of the reinforcing strips are provided with perforations suchias-shown at 2'3: in Figurel l, in fixed andfnniform spacing with respect to'thc slots, forl a purpose which will bedescrlbed;
For the purpose of securing the tie Wires 2i) in the wallrsections; my invention provides an implement having jaw'sections'by which it is locked onjthefprojecting flanges, and'a wire-bending plunger to deflect a portion of the projecting endsof-thetie'wires transversely into and through the slots `of the projecting flanges. Figures 2 to 4"'show an illustrativeembodiment vof such an implement. Thisimplement*comprises a main body portion 24 on which are'rnounted the opperating parts of the' flange-engaging and wireberrdingmembers. Extending rigidly from this mainzbody 24 is a hand lever or arm 2-5` which is grooved orfrecessedv at 26 toreceive a toggle wires extending across the pouring space and Iprojecting through perforated base flanges of opposite sections of the two walls, the projecting end of each tie wire extending in a single loop through registering apertures of adjacent projecting flanges of adjoining sections and secured therein to secure the sections together and to space said form walls.

A concrete form comprising in combination a pair of form walls, each wall made up of unit sections assembled edge to edge, each section comprising a panel and an apertured reinforcement flange projecting from the edge thereof, tie wires extending across the pouring space and projecting through opposite sections of the two walls, the projecting end of each tie wire being transversely looped in a single loop through registering apertures of adjacent continuously contactive projecting anges of adjoining sections, and Wedge pins inserted in the projecting loops of the tie wires to secure the sections together and to space said form Walls;
4. A concrete form comprising a pair of spaced form Walls, each wall being made up of a plurality of unit sections assembled edge to edge, each section comprising a panel and an apertured reinforcement ange projecting from each edge thereof, in combination with tie wires extending across the pouring space between said form walls and `projecting through opposite sections of theA REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
