This invention relates to the official class of brackets and supports and more particularly to broom holders.

The primary object of this invention resides in the provision of a holder to be secured to a sup.- port so as to receive and retain a broom, mop or other similar article in suspended position off the floor where it can be readily removed with little or no effort.

Another object of this invention resides in the provision of a broom holder adapted to be constructed from a single strand of wire.

A further object of this invention resides in the provision of a broom holder constructed of a single strand of resilient wire having its medial portions secured to a support and its free ends coiled on spaced vertical axes with certain coils thereof disposed in opposed relation on horizontal planes spaced from one another.

A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a broom holder having opposed gripping jaws lying on spaced horizontal planes so as to function independently of one another.

With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of con struction and arrangement of elements to be hereinafter fully set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim and, While this disclosure depicts my present conception of the invention, the right is reserved to resort to such changes in construction and arrangement of elements as come within the spirit of the invention.

In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application;

Fig. 1 is a front view of the broom holder prior to forming the coils thereon.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the broom holder secured in operative position on a support.

Fig. 3 is a similar view thereof showing the broom holder supporting a broom handle.

Fig. 4 is a front view of the broom holder showing a portion of a broom handle retained thereby.

In the present illustration of this invention, the numeral 5 designates, in general, a strand of resilient wire having its medial portion 6 bent at right angles to form parallel arms 8 and 9 and its ends I similarly bent and welded or otherwise secured as indicated by the numeral 1' and, in order to provide securing means on the holder, the arms 8 and 9 have their medial portions bent into eyes Iii to accommodate screws l3 or the like adapted to be driven into a support herein indicated by the letter S.

With the strand of wire initially formed into the aforesaid configuration, the free ends thereof are coiled on vertical axes to form sets of opposed gripping jaws H and 12, each of which is so disposed so independent movement thereof relative to one another is permitted, thus it is apparent that upper and lower gripping action will take place on broom handles B or the like regardless of variance in their configuration. Said gripping jaws l2 are of the same configuration as the gripping jaws I I and occupy common vertical planes.

With this invention fully described, it is manifest that a broom holder is provided which will readily function for the purposes of its adoption and, through the simplicity of construction thereof, it can be manufactured cheaply and sold at a nominal cost.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

An article of manufacture in the form of a broom holder constructed from a single strand of resilient wire bent into substantially rectangular configuration and having its ends secured together and its medial portion bent into eyes, said strand of wire so formed having its outer portions coiled toward one another to form opposed upper and lower gripping jaws connected together in vertically disposed pairs.
