provide abox of the type described, the base and coverof which have corrugations which strhen the box, and prevent the warping of the base or cover out of shape and, in case the base is divided into compartments by partitions. position such partitions, said box being preferably of transparent or at least translucent material so that the contents thereof are visible through the walls.
a further object of this invention is to provide in a box, partitions which divide the base into W compartments, said base, cover and partitions enacting to stiffen the. box.
Another object of this invention is to provide in a fly box a center leaf hinged to the base and provided with hook racks, snell holders and mois- W toning pads.
These and other objects will appear from 'an o ation of the following description of the invention and of the accompanying drawing in which it Figs. 1 and 2 are perspective views of boxes bodying two forms of this invention. v This invention is shown in the drawing and hereinafter be described with respect to fly boxes, but it will be understood that this is 1:. merely illustrative and not limitative, since the invention is applicable to boxes adapted for varione uses and for containing other forms of fish? ing tackle besides flies.
These boxes are preferably made of Celluloid or similar transparent or translucent material so that the contents therein are visible when the boxes are closed. 'Each box comprises a base "I and a cover ll. Formed in the base and cover are a plurality of transversely and longitudinally extending integral corrugations I! which provide grooves on the inner faces of the base and cover and ribs on the outer faces thereof. The corrugations in the base and cover are so located that when the cover is closed and the side walls of the cover enclose the side walls of the base, the grooves on the inner face of the cover walls register with-and engage the ribs on the outer face of the base walls. Knobs it in the front walls of the base and cover are similarly formed 55 and register when the cover is closed to hold it till the lower edge of partition i and the against involuntary or unwanted opening. The cover is suitably secured to the base as by hinges ll (shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1).
'In the embodiment shown in Fig. l a plurality of partitions of transparent or translucent material divide the base into a plurality of compartments. The longitudinal partition l5 inter-'- locks with the cross partitions it as by the formation of slots extending from the edges thereof. As shown in the drawing the slots extend from upper edges of partitions I6 whereby the upper edge of partition it and the lower edges of the cross partitions it are continuous and not interrupted.
The ends of the partitions enter the grooves in I? the side walls of the base, the lower edges of the partitions enter the grooves in the bottom of the base and the upper edges enter the grooves in the top of the cover when the box is closed. The partitions are secured by cement or other means to the grooves of the base and by reason of this engagement with the base and cover make the box firm and rigid. Moreover, since the partitions enter the grooves of the base and cover, when the box is closed, the compartments ill defined thereby are sealed and the contents cannot shift from one compartment to another.
The embodiment shown in Fig. -2 has no partitions of the type in the Fig. 1 embodiment but is provided with a partition in the form of a center leaf which is secured to the back wall of the base as by hinges 2i. Mounted on both faces of the partition are hook racks tfl, coiled spring sneli holders 2t and moistening pads 24. Inwardly projecting knobs formed in the front wall of the base support the forward edge of the partition. Flies can readily be removed from and replaced upon the partition independently while wet. The partition 20 when the box is closed serves to stifien the box and the cover and base coact as pointed out above in connection with the Fig. 1 embodiment, the grooves of the cormgations in the walls of the cover receiving the ribs of the corrugations in the walls of the base.
While two embodiments of this invention have been shown and described it will be understood that the.invention is not limited thereto and that other embodiments may be made without departing from the spirit and scope thereof as set forth in the following claims. 1
I claim:
l. A box comprising a base and a cover, said cover havingside walls which enclose theside walls of the base, corrugations formed in the side walls of the base and cover at the front,
back and ends thereof, which corrugations provide grooves in the inner facesof the side walls and ribs in the outer faces thereof, the ribs of the corrugations in the side walls of the base entering the grooves of the corrugations in the enclosing side walls 'of thecover when the box is closed.
2. A box comprising a base and a cover, said cover having side walls which enclose the side walls of the base, corrugations formed in the side walls of the base and cover at the front, back and ends thereof, which corrugations provide grooves in the inner faces of the side walls and ribs in the outer faces thereof,-the ribs of the corrugations in the side walls of the base entering the grooves of thecorrugations in the enclosing side walls of the cover when the box isclosed, andpartitionsinthebaseofthebox, the ends of which partitions enter the grooves in the side walls of the base and are secured thereto, said partitions 'coacting with the registered corrugations to stiffen the closed box.
8.Aboxabaseandacover, said cover having front, back and end walls which enclou front, back and end walls of the base, corrugations formed in at least two of the walls of the base and in at least two of the walls of the cover, which corrugations provide grooves in the inner faces of the walls and ribs in the outer faces thereof, the ribs of the corrugations in the walls of the'base entering the grooves of the corrugations in the walls of the cover when the box is closed.
4. A box comprising a base and s ower, said cover having front, back and end walls which enclose front, back and end walls of the base, corrugations formed in the front and back walls of the base and in the front and back walls of the cover, which corrugations provide grooves in the inner faces of the walls and ribs in the outer faces thereof, the ribs of the corrugations in the walls of the base entering the grooves of the corrugations in the walls of the cover when the box is closed.
