Description
- The present application claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 63/184,574 filed May 5, 2021, which is incorporated herein by its entirety and referenced thereto.
- The present invention generally relates to a device for applying a liquid material to the hair. More specifically, the present invention relates to a device for applying a liquid material such as hairdressing agent, a hair dye, a moisturizer, a protective agent, and a hair restorer to the hair and detangling the hair.
- It is known that devices such as hair applicators or liquid applicators are used for applying hair products to the head. Further, devices such as combs or hair detangling devices or brushes are used to detangle or style the hair.
- Several attempts have been made in the past to provide a variety of devices for applying hair products or detangling the hair. One such example is disclosed in a United States Publication No. 20160227898, entitled “Hair straightener” (“the '898 Publication”). The '898 Publication discloses a hair straightener that includes a power cord, a control circuit board, an upper shell, a bottom shell, an electric hot plate and a heat-conductive brush head. The upper shell and the bottom shell are fastened together with a first accommodation chamber defined therein. The bottom shell defines an opening. The control circuit board, the electric hot plate and the heat-conductive brush head are accommodated in the first accommodation chamber. The heat-conductive brush head has a heat-transfer plate attached to the back side thereof. The electric hot plate is mounted on the heat-transfer plate. The heat-conductive brush head has a plurality of heat-transfer brush teeth located on the front side thereof.
- Another example is disclosed in a U.S. Pat. No. 7,650,893, entitled “Device for applying a hair product” (“the '893 Patent”). The '893 Patent discloses a device for applying a hair product which includes a support on one face of which there projects application elements. The application elements are arranged such that a first group of application elements of a first row is superposable, along a longitudinal axis (X) of the support, with a second group of application elements of a second row. The application elements of the second group have a mean flexibility and/or a mean height that is greater respectively than the mean flexibility and/or the mean height of the application elements of the first group. In addition, the mean of the spacings between application elements that make up the second group is less than the mean of the spacings between application elements that make up the first group.
- Yet another example is disclosed in a PCT Publication No. 2012164734, entitled “Liquid applicator and method for applying application liquid” (“the '734 Publication”). The '734 Publication discloses that the present invention enables the application of a large amount of an application liquid by a simple procedure. A liquid applicator (1), wherein short tines (12) are positioned between long tines (11) so as to form right and left tine rows (5R, 5L), each having alternately and sequentially aligned long tines (11) and short tines (12), on the surface of a substrate (4). In the liquid applicator (1), the long tines (11) have a function of conducting mass application and the short tines (12) and the long tines (11) together have a function of controlling the application in some areas. The constitution of the liquid applicator (1) makes it possible to apply a large amount of an application liquid to the subject's hair while finely controlling the amount of the application liquid for one or several strands of the hair.
- Although the above discussed devices are useful, they have few problems. For example, the devices can only be used either for applying hair products or used for detangling or straightening the hair. Further, the '734 Publication discloses an external liquid tank used for filling the hair solution into the device. As a result, several devices are needed for applying hair products to the head and detangling or styling the hair.
- Therefore, there is a need for an improved device that can be used as a multipurpose tool for applying a liquid material to the hair and detangling the hair and reducing the need for multiple devices.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a device for applying a liquid material to hair and detangling the hair and that avoids the drawback of known devices.

As thebristles 38 are tapered, liquid material 44 flows down easily due to gravity. - In operation, the user opens plate 26 and fills liquid material 44 in cavity 20 in the direction 34, as shown in
FIG. 2 . Liquid material 44 includes, but not limited to, hairdressing agent, a hair dye, a moisturizer, a protective agent, shampoo, conditioner, a hair restorer, etc. After filling liquid material 44, the user snugly fits plate 26 to first part 14 at plate receiving section 22 or plate receptor 24. Here, sealing member 30 helps to retain plate 26 in position with respect to plate receiving section 22. Additionally, sealing member 30 ensures there is no gap between plate 26 and plate receiving section 22 thereby preventing leakage of liquid material 44. In use, the user positions bristles 38 facing the scalp or head of the user. Liquid material 44 flows down through slots 46 atsecond part 16 and holes 42 atbristles 38. Liquid material 44 exits bristles 38 and falls over the scalp or head of the user. The user can position device 10 at an angle to control the flow or direction of liquid material 44 falling over the scalp or head of the user depending on the need. Alternatively, the user positions device 10 horizontally such that liquid material 44 gets dispensed evenly through bristles 38. - Further, the user can use device 10 for detangling the hair. A person skilled in the art understands that device 10 can be used to detangle the hair with or without (i.e., detangle dry hair or comb the hair) the liquid material 44 stored in cavity 20. In one example, the user fills liquid material 44 in cavity 20 and positions bristles 38 over the scalp to apply a small amount of liquid material 44 thereby moisturizing the hair. Subsequently, the user positions bristles 38 to detangle the hair. After use, the user removes plate 26, first part 14,
second part 16 and/or bristles 38, and uses warm water to clean residue of liquid material 44. - Based on the above, it is evident that the presently disclosed device can be used to apply a liquid material and/or detangle the hair. The presently disclosed device can be used as a hair brush to oil dry scalp, moisturize hair to prevent breakage, evenly dye hair, detangle dry and wet hair, and provide deep shampoo and conditioning.
