Abstract
A cloth used for makeup removal, especially makeup mistake removal, consisting of a piece of 100% polyester mesh knit fabric and a piece of a spandex blend fabric, stitched together to form a two-layered cloth. The invention is used as a wipe to remove excess makeup from the user's skin or hair. Unlike previous wipes and cloths, the texture and absorbency of the selected fabrics allow for the removal of unwanted makeup without the need for added water, cleansers, oils, or formulas. Thus, the cloth will correct mistakes without the possibility of smearing other areas of the face, where makeup is already applied, with water or oil; it also reduces the need for using harsh chemical makeup removers around sensitive areas such as the eyes.
Description
- This invention relates to a cloth used for makeup removal, especially as an improved method for removing makeup mistakes or excess makeup product from face, hands, or clothes.
- There exist microfiber cloths which are intended for the use of makeup removal and marketed as “natural” and “reusable.” However, these require the use of water and are not useful for fixing minor errors during makeup application.
- There also exist many variations of cotton swabs or pads used for makeup removal, most often combined with liquid chemical compositions. However, these can be messy, cause makeup to smear or run, and often contain harsh chemicals that are harmful or irritating to skin, especially in sensitive areas such as the eyes.
- There also exist pre-moistened facial wipes that are effective at removing makeup in small or large amounts. However, these are single use only. Modern consumers have a demand for more sustainable products for their positive effect on the environment and long-term money-saving qualities.
- Therefore, a significant need exists for a wipe which is useful for correcting makeup mistakes or removing small amounts of excess or unwanted makeup, is safe and non-irritating, does not require added water or other formulas, and can be reused.
- An object of this invention is to provide a product that allows makeup users to quickly and easily fix their makeup mistakes without the use of added water or cleanser.
- Provided with this invention is a square comprising of two pieces of fabric stitched together. The two sides are different materials, both of a stretchy nature associated with athletic clothing or swimwear. The first is a lightweight, polyester, mesh knit fabric. The other side consists of a fabric blend of spandex with nylon and polyester in varying proportions. The wicking and absorbing properties of these materials allow them to effectively remove unwanted makeup without added water, cleansers, or other formulas; the selected fabrics are non-irritating to skin; and the wipe can be reused and washed for long-term use.

FIG. 1 is an angled view of the makeup remover cloth, which shows that there are two layers of fabric, with one row of exposed stitching due to the process of manufacture. -
FIG. 2 is a view of one side of the makeup remover cloth, which shows the square shape of the invention. - A piece of 100% polyester, mesh knit, 4-way stretch material is laid on a piece of blended nylon and spandex 4-way stretch fabric. The latter fabric may also contain polyester in addition to or in place of nylon and may be comprised of anywhere from 12% to 50% spandex. The two pieces of material are stitched together with a straight stitch, using any standard thread, nearly all the way around the edge, then turned inside out to form a pocket. The ‘pocket’ is then closed with a line of straight stitching across the edge with the opening. In this manner, there is one row of stitching visible on the finished product. The finished invention may be square or any other shape, from three inches to ten inches across. No chemicals or formula are needed for production or added to the finished invention.
- Intended use of the invention includes removing makeup from skin and hair. It may also be used to remove makeup from clothing or other surfaces. The fabric is soft and flexible enough to be non-irritating for all skin types and is safe for children. The invention can also be used to remove excess of other substances, such as sunscreen, from the skin or hair; or anti-perspirant powder from clothing. The invention differs from previous inventions because it removes makeup or other substances without water, cleansers, or any chemical formulas. The two different fabrics provide a greater variety of texture, one of which may be more effective for removing different types of makeup and cosmetic product.
