Description

    BACKGROUND
  • This disclosure relates to a system and method for managing prayer requests within a social network application. This disclosure further relates to a system and method for facilitating a life event page within a social network application. This disclosure further relates to a system and method for facilitating church member networking within a social network application. Lastly, this disclosure relates to a system and method for filtering feeds within a social network application. For purposes of this disclosure, various embodiments are discussed and are an example of the above-mentioned systems and methods. However, such embodiments are solely exemplary, and not limiting.
  • Social networking has evolved rapidly over the last twenty years. Yet, while many secular options exist, no social network exists capable of meeting the needs of religious people. For example, a common activity of people of faith is prayer. People pray for themselves, and they pray for others. Further, it is common for the people to ask others to pray for them. Presently social network applications do not give users the ability to manage prayer requests. As such, it would be advantageous to have a system and method for managing prayer request within a social network application.
  • Further, life event pages on websites can be useful in making accessible obituaries and planning events such as weddings and birthdays. However, such sites are incapable of sharing and receiving important information from people outside of immediate contacts without making access public. As such, it would be advantageous to have a system and method for facilitating a life event page within a social network application.
  • Further, present church management software packages are expensive, standalone, and difficult to implement. Group pages within social network applications are typically free, tied to a large user base, and easy to implement. However, group pages within social network applications lack the tools necessary to effectively manage a church. As such, it would also be advantageous to have a system and method for facilitating church member networking within a social network application.
  • Lastly, feeds within existing social networks often contain posts of varying topics with no organization. However, a social network catering to religious people will often contain posts in predictable topics including, but not limited to, prayer requests, testimonials, devotionals, and praises. Furthermore, having the ability to organize posts by the poster or by favorited posts would be useful. As such, it would also be advantageous to have a system and method for filtering feeds within a social network application.
