Abstract

A heat deflecting assembly for open flame heat sources such as fire pits and camp fires includes a first pipe that has a first end. The first end is configured to couple to a substantially horizontal surface. A deflector is coupled to and extends from a second end of the first pipe. The first pipe and the deflector comprise metal. The deflector is configured to horizontally redirect heat that radiates upwardly from proximate to the first end of the first pipe.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The disclosure and prior art relates to heat deflecting assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new heat deflecting assembly for open flame heat sources such as fire pits and camp fires.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a first pipe that has a first end. The first end is configured to couple to a substantially horizontal surface. A deflector is coupled to and extends from a second end of the first pipe. The first pipe and the deflector comprise metal. The deflector is configured to horizontally redirect heat that radiates upwardly from proximate to the first end of the first pipe.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a heat deflecting assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new heat deflecting assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the heat deflecting assembly 10 generally comprises a first pipe 12. A first end 14 of the first pipe 12 is configured to couple to a substantially horizontal surface. In one embodiment, the first pipe 12 is circular when viewed longitudinally. In another embodiment, the first pipe 12 comprises metal. In yet another embodiment, the first pipe 12 comprises stainless steel.
  • A plate 16 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from the first pipe 12. The plate 16 defines an upper section 18 and a lower section 20 of the first pipe 12. The plate 16 is configured to abut the substantially horizontal surface. The plate 16 is positioned to stabilize the first pipe 12 substantially perpendicular to the substantially horizontal surface. In one embodiment, the first pipe 12 is substantially centrally positioned through the plate 16. In another embodiment, the plate 16 is circularly shaped. In yet another embodiment, the plate 16 comprises metal. In still yet another embodiment, the plate 16 comprises stainless steel.
  • A first tube 22 is configured to allow reversible insertion of the upper section 18 of the first pipe 12. The first tube 22 is positioned to slide relative to the first pipe 12 and impact the plate 16. The lower section 20 of the first pipe 12 is inserted into the substantially horizontal surface until the plate 16 abuts the substantially horizontal surface. The first pipe 12 is coupled to the substantially horizontal surface. In one embodiment, the first tube 22 comprises metal. In another embodiment, the first tube 22 comprises stainless steel.
  • A deflector 24 is coupled to and extends from a second end 26 of the first pipe 12. The deflector 24 is configured to horizontally redirect heat that radiates upwardly from proximate to the first end 14 of the first pipe 12. In one embodiment, the deflector 24 is conically shaped and defines an apex 28 and a base 30. The apex 28 is coupled to the first pipe 12, such that the deflector 24 is inverted. In another embodiment, the deflector 24 comprises metal. In yet another embodiment, the deflector 24 comprises stainless steel.
  • In one embodiment, a second pipe 32 is coupled to and extends from the apex 28 of the deflector 24. In another embodiment, the second pipe 32 is circularly shaped when viewed longitudinally. The second pipe 32 is circumferentially equivalent to the first pipe 12. In yet another embodiment, the second pipe 32 comprises metal. In still yet another embodiment, the second pipe 32 comprises stainless steel.
  • A first coupler 34 is coupled to the first end 14 of the first pipe 12. A second coupler 36 is coupled to the second pipe 32 distal from the deflector 24. The second coupler 36 is complementary to the first coupler 34. The second coupler 36 is positioned to couple to the first coupler 34 to couple the second pipe 32 to the first pipe 12. In one embodiment, the assembly 10 comprises a second tube 38 that has an inner circumference 40 that is substantially complementary to an outer circumference 42 of the first pipe 12. The second tube 38 is internally threaded. In this embodiment, the first coupler 34 and the second coupler 36 comprise male threads 44. The second tube 38 is positioned to couple to the first coupler 34 and the second coupler 36 to couple the second pipe 32 to the first pipe 12. In another embodiment, the second tube 38 comprises metal. In yet another embodiment, the second tube 38 comprises stainless steel.
  • In use, the first tube 22 is positioned on the first pipe 12 and is positioned to slide relative to the first pipe 12 to impact the plate 16. The lower section 20 of the first pipe 12 is inserted into the substantially horizontal surface until the plate 16 abuts the substantially horizontal surface. The first pipe 12 is coupled to the substantially horizontal surface. The plate 16 is positioned to stabilize the first pipe 12 substantially perpendicular to the substantially horizontal surface. The second tube 38 is positioned to couple to the first coupler 34 and the second coupler 36 to couple the second pipe 32 to the first pipe 12. The deflector 24 is configured to horizontally redirect the heat that radiates upwardly from proximate to the first end 14 of the first pipe 12.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims (15)

I claim:
1. A heat deflecting assembly comprising:
a first pipe having a first end configured for coupling to a substantially horizontal surface, said first pipe comprising metal;
a deflector coupled to and extending from a second end of said first pipe, said deflector comprising metal; and
wherein said deflector is positioned on said first pipe such that said deflector is configured for horizontally redirecting heat that is radiating upwardly from proximate to said first end of said first pipe.
2. The assembly of claim 1, further including said first pipe being circularly shaped when viewed longitudinally.
3. The assembly of claim 1, further including said first pipe and said deflector comprising stainless steel.
4. The assembly of claim 1, further including a plate coupled to and extending perpendicularly from said first pipe defining an upper section and a lower section of said first pipe, said plate comprising metal, wherein said plate is positioned on said pipe such that said plate is configured for abutting the substantially horizontal surface such that said plate is positioned for stabilizing said first pipe substantially perpendicular to the substantially horizontal surface.
5. The assembly of claim 4, further including said first pipe being substantially centrally positioned through said plate.
6. The assembly of claim 4, further including said plate being circularly shaped.
7. The assembly of claim 4, further including said plate comprising stainless steel.
8. The assembly of claim 4, further including a first tube configured for reversible insertion of said upper section of said first pipe, said first tube comprising metal, wherein said first tube is positioned on said first pipe such that said first tube is positioned for sliding relative to said first pipe and impacting said plate such that said lower section of said first pipe is inserted into the substantially horizontal surface until said plate abuts the substantially horizontal surface, wherein said first pipe is coupled to the substantially horizontal surface.
9. The assembly of claim 8, further including said first tube comprising stainless steel.
10. The assembly of claim 1, further including said deflector being conically shaped defining an apex and a base, said apex being coupled to said first pipe such that said deflector is inverted.
11. The assembly of claim 10, further comprising:
a second pipe coupled to and extending from said apex of said deflector, said second pipe comprising metal, said second pipe being circularly shaped when viewed longitudinally, said second pipe being circumferentially equivalent to said first pipe;
a first coupler coupled to said first end of said first pipe;
a second coupler coupled to said second pipe distal from said deflector, said second coupler being complementary to said first coupler; and
wherein said second coupler is positioned on said second pipe such that said second coupler is positioned to couple to said first coupler to couple said second pipe to said first pipe.
12. The assembly of claim 11, further including said second pipe comprising stainless steel.
13. The assembly of claim 11, further including a second tube having an inner circumference substantially complementary to an outer circumference of said first pipe, said second tube comprising metal, said second tube being internally threaded, said first coupler and said second coupler comprising male threads such that said second tube is positioned to couple to said first coupler and said second coupler to couple said second pipe to said first pipe.
14. The assembly of claim 13, further including said second tube comprising stainless steel.
15. A heat deflecting assembly comprising:
a first pipe having a first end configured for coupling to a substantially horizontal surface, said first pipe being circularly shaped when viewed longitudinally, said first pipe comprising metal, said first pipe comprising stainless steel;
a plate coupled to and extending perpendicularly from said first pipe defining an upper section and a lower section of said first pipe, wherein said plate is positioned on said pipe such that said plate is configured for abutting the substantially horizontal surface such that said plate is positioned for stabilizing said first pipe substantially perpendicular to the substantially horizontal surface, said first pipe being substantially centrally positioned through said plate, said plate being circularly shaped, said plate comprising metal, said plate comprising stainless steel;
a first tube configured for reversible insertion of said upper section of said first pipe, wherein said first tube is positioned on said first pipe such that said first tube is positioned for sliding relative to said first pipe and impacting said plate such that said lower section of said first pipe is inserted into the substantially horizontal surface until said plate abuts the substantially horizontal surface, wherein said first pipe is coupled to the substantially horizontal surface, said first tube comprising metal, said first tube comprising stainless steel;
a deflector coupled to and extending from a second end of said first pipe, wherein said deflector is positioned on said first pipe such that said deflector is configured for horizontally redirecting heat that is radiating upwardly from proximate to said first end of said first pipe, said deflector being conically shaped defining an apex and a base, said apex being coupled to said first pipe such that said deflector is inverted, said deflector comprising metal, said deflector comprising stainless steel;
a second pipe coupled to and extending from said apex of said deflector, said second pipe being circularly shaped when viewed longitudinally, said second pipe being circumferentially equivalent to said first pipe, said second pipe comprising metal, said second pipe comprising stainless steel;
a first coupler coupled to said first end of said first pipe;
a second coupler coupled to said second pipe distal from said deflector, said second coupler being complementary to said first coupler, wherein said second coupler is positioned on said second pipe such that said second coupler is positioned to couple to said first coupler to couple said second pipe to said first pipe;
a second tube having an inner circumference substantially complementary to an outer circumference of said first pipe, said second tube being internally threaded, said first coupler and said second coupler comprising male threads such that said second tube is positioned to couple to said first coupler and said second coupler to couple said second pipe to said first pipe, said second tube comprising metal, said second tube comprising stainless steel; and
wherein said first tube is positioned on said first pipe such that said first tube is positioned for sliding relative to said first pipe and impacting said plate such that said lower section of said first pipe is inserted into the substantially horizontal surface until said plate abuts the substantially horizontal surface, wherein said first pipe is coupled to the substantially horizontal surface and wherein said plate is positioned for stabilizing said first pipe substantially perpendicular to the substantially horizontal surface, wherein said second tube is positioned to couple to said first coupler and said second coupler to couple said second pipe to said first pipe such that said deflector is configured for horizontally redirecting heat that is radiating upwardly from proximate to said first end of said first pipe.
