FIGS. 1-2 illustrates a front and back perspective views of the present device in its fully assembled state. The present device includes various interchangeable parts that when connected encompass the fully assembled state of the device. - In one embodiment, a cosmetic device 10 is disclosed, wherein the
cosmetic device 2 preferably comprises acurler section 4, acolor well section 6, and abrush section 8. -
FIGS. 3A-3B illustrates a perspective view of the present device in a fully disassembled state. In a preferred embodiment thecurler section 4,color well section 6, and thebrush section 8 may be removably attached to each other by a series of snap fits (see discussion below). In one embodiment, thecurler section 4 is preferably attached to afirst end 10A of thecolor well section 6, and thebrush section 8 is preferably attached to asecond end 10B of the color well section. - Furthermore, the
curler section 4 comprises afirst cavity 22, wherein the first cavity may be considered a female attachment end as known in the art. In one embodiment, thefirst cavity 22 located on thecurler section 4 is disposed to receive a firstsnap fit plug 24 located on thefirst end 10A of thecolor well section 6; the firstsnap fit plug 24 may also be referred to as a male attachment end as known in the art. Thus, in one embodiment, once the firstsnap fit plug 24 of thecolor well section 6 is introduced into thefirst cavity 22 of the curler section, a snap fit is achieved securing thecurler section 4 to thecolor well section 8. Similarly, thecolor well section 6 comprises asecond cavity 26 located on thesecond end 10B of thecolor well section 6. Thesecond cavity 26 is disposed to receive a secondsnap fit plug 28 located on thebrush section 8. When the secondsnap fit plug 28 is introduced into thesecond cavity 26 on thecolor well section 6, a snap fit is achieved securing thecolor well section 6 to thebrush section 8. In other embodiments various attachment means may be utilized to secure the various sections of thecosmetic device 2 to each, including, but not limited to a threaded attachment, a latch mechanism, or other attachments allowing the user to detach the sections of thecosmetic device 2. - In a preferred embodiment the
curler section 4 of thecosmetic device 2 further comprises acurling mechanism 16 located at adistal end 17 of the curler section; thefirst cavity 22 of thecurler section 4 is located at aproximal end 19 opposite thecurling mechanism 16. In one embodiment, thecurling mechanism 16 preferably comprises a pair of concave jaws; anupper curler jaw 18 and alower curler jaw 20. Preferably, theupper curler jaw 18 is stationary and affixed by a plurality ofrods 23, wherein the plurality ofrods 23 protrude and extend substantially perpendicular to abottom edge 30 of theupper curler jaw 18. In one embodiment, each individual rod of the plurality ofrods 23 is preferably positioned near anouter edge 25 of thebottom edge 30. Additionally, thelower curler jaw 20 is slideably affixed to the plurality ofrods 23, wherein the plurality ofrods 23 extend through thelower curler jaw 20 allowing the lower curling jaw to travel along a length of the plurality ofrods 23. In a resting position thelower curler jaw 20 is in contact with theupper curler jaw 18; thelower curler jaw 20 provides the force necessary to curl an eyelash. In one embodiment, when a quality of force is applied to thelower curler jaw 20, thelower curler jaw 20 may slide along the plurality ofrods 23 until it meets theupper curler jaw 18, which resists the force. In this embodiment, an eyelash (not shown) of the user of thecosmetic device 2 will become trapped between the two opposing forces of thelower curler jaw 20 and theupper curler jaw 18 to generate the desired curling affect. - Moreover, in one embodiment, the curling
section 4 further comprises athumb lever 36, wherein thethumb lever 36 enables movement of thelower curler jaw 20 during use and from a resting position; during the resting state thethumb lever 36 is not depressed and thereby not engaged. At the resting state thelower curler jaw 20 is open and therefore not in contact with theupper curler jaw 18 as shown inFIG. 3 . The void created between theupper curler jaw 18 and thelower curler jaw 20 allows for an eyelash to be received and eventually curled by the curlingmechanism 16. When thethumb lever 36 is depressed downward, thelower curler jaw 20 moves closing the void between thelower curler jaw 20 and theupper curler jaw 18. - In a preferred embodiment the
color well section 6 joins thecurler section 4 and thebrush section 8, while additionally including a mascara well within the color well section. Thecolor well section 6 is removably affixed to both thecurler section 4 and thebrush section 8 to allow for interchangeability of mascara wells. This configuration of thecosmetic device 2 allows for a user the option to easily replace or change the mascara. In this embodiment thesecond cavity 26 includes a mascara well as well as the female end of the couple between thebrush section 8 and thecolor well section 6. In the preferred embodiment thesecond cavity 26 diameter is greater than the diameter of the second snapfit plug 28 as well as the diameter of a brush 40 (discussed below). The smaller diameter of the second snapfit plug 28 and thebrush 30 allow for the second snapfit plug 28 and thebrush 40 to fit entirely within thesecond cavity 26. When the brush is inside of thesecond cavity 26 thebrush 40 may be immersed in the mascara thereby allowing for use of the mascara. When the second snapfit plug 28 is fitted inside the second cavity 26 a coupling is created. - In another preferred embodiment the
brush section 8 is comprises anend cap 32, a second snapfit plug 28, abrush stem 34, and abrush 40. Theend cap 32 is made to an outer diameter equal to that of thecolor well section 6. This allows for theend cap 32 to sit flush with thecolor well section 6 when the second snapfit plug 28 andsecond cavity 26 are coupled. The second snapfit plug 28 protrudes from a center of theend cap 32. The second snap fit plugs 28 diameter is substantially similar to that of thesecond cavity 26 allowing for a snap fit to be created. In alternate embodiments the second snapfit plug 28 and thesecond cavity 26 may be threaded to allow for a screw fit. The brush stem 34 protrudes from the second snapfit plug 28; thebrush stem 34 may be of a diameter substantially smaller than the diameter of the second snapfit plug 28. Thebrush 40 is affixed to the end of thebrush stem 34; thebrush 40 is used for application of the mascara. In the preferred embodiment the material of thebrush 40 is selected to allow for retention of mascara on the brush without absorption of the mascara into the brush. -
FIGS. 4 and 5A illustrate additional viewpoints of thecosmetic device 2 from a side view and a front view showing thecurler section 4, thecolor well section 6 and thebrush section 8.FIG. 5B illustrates a cross-sectional view along line A-A shown inFIG. 5A displaying the interior of thethumb lever 36. -
FIGS. 6A-6B illustrate an additional front view and corresponding cross-sectional view of thecosmetic device 2, wherein thebrush 40 is positioned within a color well 42 during non-use of thecosmetic device 2. As can be seen from this embodiment, thebrush 40 is secured within the color well 42 when the second snapfit plug 28 andsecond cavity 26 are coupled. - In conclusion, herein is presented a cosmetic device. The invention is illustrated by example in the flow diagrams and figures, and throughout the written description. It should be understood that numerous variations are possible, while adhering to the inventive concept. Such variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention.
