Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a scaffold comprising an upright and a transverse tube connected to the upright, as well as a handrail tube having one end connected to the transverse tube, said transverse tube has a non-rotationally symmetrical cross-section, and said handrail tube is provided with a recess near one end, which recess is such that the handrail tube in a first position with the recess faced to the transverse tube can be moved over the transverse tube in a direction at right angles to the transverse tube, and can be turned about the transverse tube to a second position in which the handrail tube is interlocked with the transverse tube.
- Such a scaffold is known from DE 3504188 A. This known scaffold also has an upright attached to a transverse tube and a strut tube which has to be coupled to the transverse tube and in coupled position should be interlocked with the transverse tube. The transverse tube of this known scaffold has a rectangular cross-section and the strut tube is provided near one end with a recess having an angular shape. The strut tube in a first inclined position is moved over the transverse tube and then rotated to a second angled position in which it is interlocked with the transverse tube.
- An object of the invention is to provide a scaffold of the type described in the opening paragraph in which the handrail tube is easier to twist around the transverse tube and wherein the tubes are easier to manufacture than in the known scaffold. To this end, the scaffold according to the invention is characterized in that the cross-section of the transverse tube is substantially circular with an outer diameter D1 and a flattened part, wherein the middle of the outer side of the flattened part is at a distance d1 from the outside of an opposite wall part, and in that the recess in the handrail tube is C-shaped and having a circular boundary wall with an inner diameter D2, and extending over an angle greater than 180 degrees, wherein seen in cross-section the ends of the boundary wall are present at a distance d2 from each other, and wherein D2 is greater than or equal to D1 and d2 is greater than or equal to d1 and is smaller than D1.
- Because of the rounded shapes of the cross section of the crossbar and of the recess in the handrail tube, the handrail tube can easily be turned over the transverse tube. In addition, circular shapes, in general, are easy to manufacture. Here too, the handrail tube in an inclined position with the recess facing the transverse tube, can be moved over the transverse tube, and then be turned into a horizontal position, in which position the handrail tube is interlocked with the transverse tube.
- Hereinafter, the invention will be further elucidated on the basis of an exemplary embodiment of the scaffold according to the invention shown in the drawing in which:
-
FIG. 1 shows a detail of the scaffold at the location of the connection between the handrail tube and transverse tube. - In
FIG. 1 , a detail of a scaffold 1 is shown at the location of a connection between thehandrail tube 7 and atransverse tube 5. The scaffold 1 has an upright 3 and atransverse tube 5 connected to it, as well as ahandrail tube 7 which with oneend 9 is connected to thetransverse tube 5. - The
transverse tube 5 is constituted by aprofile 8 with a cross-section which is substantially circular and has an outer diameter D1 and aflattened part 10. Thecenter 11 of the outer side of theflattened part 10 is at a distance d1 from the outer side of anopposite wall part 13. Theend 9 of thehandrail tube 7 is provided with a C-shaped recess 15 whoseboundary wall 17 is circular in shape and has an inner diameter D2 and extends over anangle 19 greater than 180 degrees. Seen in cross-section, theends - The diameter D2 is greater than or equal to the diameter 131 and the distance d2 is greater than or equal to the distance d1, and is smaller than the diameter D1. This allows the end of the
handrail tube 7 with thehandrail tube 7 being in an oblique position to be moved over thetransverse tube 5 and then to be rotated to a horizontal position, in which position thehandrail tube 7 is interlocked with thetransverse tube 5. - Albeit the invention has been described in the foregoing with reference to the drawings, it should be observed that the invention is not by any manner or means restricted to the embodiment shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawings within the scope defined by the claims.
