Definitions

  • This invention relates to a dual function cover/canopy for barbeque grills which can be opened as a canopy and retracted as a compact cover that makes the invention unique and novel.
  • Outdoor barbeque grills have become a common household appliance. Outdoor grills can be expensive and many simple single function covers are available for protection from the outdoor elements. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,328,083 Barbeque Grill cover provides a cover for protection during storage. However, they all require cumbersome removal and no protection of any form is provided upon removal. Replacing the covers onto the grill can be a difficult task due to the tight fitting. Often these covers are damaged in the replacement process. During cooking, a canopy can provide protection of fallen debris onto the grill. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,567,718 Umbrella Assembly for outdoor Barbeque Grill. A canopy usually requires additional space surrounding the grill and takes up useful outdoor living space.

Abstract

An apparatus provides overhead canopy/cover function for an outdoor cooking grill. The canopy provides protection of the food and the grill from fallen debris during cooking. When the grill is not in use, the apparatus can be retracted to a cover position for storage. In the retracted position, the apparatus provides a compact cover to prevent dust and other debris from damaging the grill.

  • FILED OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to a dual function cover/canopy for barbeque grills which can be opened as a canopy and retracted as a compact cover that makes the invention unique and novel.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • However there are few of patents and publications contributing to an apparatus that is easily retractable which saves space and provide dual functions of cover and canopy.
  • This invention provides a dual function and conveniently retractable grill cover/canopy combination.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present general invention concept provides a stand, a frame, a fire retardant and water resistant fabric attached to the frame, and a pair of retractable hinges for conversion from cover to canopy function.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
  • FIG. 1 is a block schematic diagram of the apparatus for retractable barbeque grill cover/canopy.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The invention provides an apparatus for providing storage protection for outdoor barbeque grills and an overhead canopy cover during cooking.
  • In FIG. 1, the apparatus in its storage cover position.
  • In FIG. 2, the apparatus in its overhead canopy position.
  • To retract the apparatus from the canopy position to cover position, the hinges are pressed to release from their locked positions.
  • To open the apparatus from the cover position to the canopy position, the cover is simply raised until the hinges are locked.
