Abstract

The preferred embodiment of this original invention with its utility descriptions provides storage and display of full wine bottles. This multiple bottle storage system is unique in both its design and operation. The manner in which the storage door opens can be manufactured to operate either from a right-hand or left-hand direction while facing the door.
The invention is to be used as a new or replacement door for an existing door located on the interior of a building. The new storage door would be a direct fit replacement once the original door and door frame are removed from the building frame. The new door is installed and connected to the frame of the building using the supplied heavy duty hardware consisting of: hinges, hinge screws, door knob assembly and door latch plate. The door itself is now capable of storing multiple full wine bottles while still allowing the opening of the door. In addition to operating as a replacement door to an existing non-storage type of door, this storage door can also be used as a door incorporated into a new design and building construction.

Description

  • The present invention was first described in a notarized Official Record of Invention on provisional patent No. 61,402,530 on Aug. 31, 2010. There are no previously filed, nor currently any co-pending applications, anywhere in the world covering original invention or its utility design.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention includes all of the previously mentioned diagrams and details from original provisional patent application. The present invention provides a custom apparatus for the storage and display of multiple full wine bottles in a safe and easily accessible nature. The device involves the manufacture of a custom door designed to fit into an existing or new interior door frame. The door contains several horizontal storage cells that allow the placement of each wine bottle inside. The door is designed to fit a standard sized interior doorway to be installed as either a replacement door or a new door installation.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention utilizes a fixed and secure hinged storage door with a specially designed component (D. Door Recess Box) that is recessed to accept multiple full bottles of wine. The frame of the door (A. Door) is constructed to support the additional weight of multiple bottles full of wine. Heavy duty hinges (G. Door Hinge) are used with longer heavy duty hardware to support the weight as they are attached to the building frame. The complete door unit includes a finished door frame and all trim because the supporting frame must also be manufactured of heavier materials and construction designed to support the additional weight and prevent sagging over time. Individual wine bottles (J. Wine Bottle) are placed inside the (H. Wine Bottle Storage Cell) which is supported by and composed of the (B. Front Bottle Support Grid), (C. Back Bottle Support Grid) and (D. Door Recess Box). When stored in this manner it allows the bottles to be safely displayed and still provide easy access to each wine bottle.
  • The unit is designed to be sold as a replacement door for and existing non-storage door or as a new installation during new building construction. For this reason the size of the units will conform to the existing standard sizing of existing interior door frame sizes. This specific sizing ensures the proper fitment of the new storage doors to be added to any type of building or updated retrofit with standard-sized doors.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The problem of correct storage for a multiple bottle wine collection is solved by this invention. Wine bottles should be stored in a position where the bottle is lying in a supine position with the base slightly higher than the neck of the bottle. This keeps any sediment from falling to the bottom of the bottle and also allows the cork to remain wet and prevent drying out during storage. The design allows storage of a wine collection using an existing interior space in that of a doorway. The invention still allows the new storage door to open and close just like a non-storage door, permitting access to the interior space on the other side of the storage door.

Claims (4)

1. The present invention is a wine bottle storage apparatus method/system that enables multiple bottles to be correctly stored and contained within a structured, functional door. This storage door is designed to fit into a standard sized interior doorway to be installed as either a replacement door or a new door installation.
2. The wine bottle storage device according to claim 1, wherein the framework for bottle storage is tilted at an angle so as to keep the wine in the bottle in contact with the cork preventing the cork from drying out during storage.
3. The wine bottle storage device according to claim 1, wherein the door frame to which the door is installed into the building frame is constructed with extra support and hardware to safely hold the added weight of full wine bottles being stored within the door.
4. The wine bottle storage device according to claim 1, wherein the front sections of the wine bottle storage cells are open allowing for the visual display of said wine bottles while the door is in both open and closed positions.
