  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • As seen in FIG. 1, the display 10 is comprised of wall board 12 of conventional manufacture. The wall board 12 is substantially two dimensional having a height and width. Conventionally available wall board 12 has a thickness in the range of about one-tenth ( 1/10″) inch to seven-thirty seconds ( 7/32″) inch, with three-sixteenths ( 3/16″) inch seemingly common.
  • The display 10 of FIG. 1 is shown having an outline or perimeter shape featuring a butterfly 14, in a manner by which the display 10 is manufactured or cut into that shape. In FIG. 1, this preferred embodiment of the display 10 also incorporates a graphic image 16 of a particular butterfly. The graphic image 16 of FIG. 1 is a laminate depicting, in this case, a butterfly, that is affixed to the board 12, by glue or other conventional adherence means. It is noted that the outline of the board 12 substantially conforms to the shape of a butterfly as seen in FIG. 1. As examples of other outline board 12 shapes, FIG. 2 depicts a soccer ball 16, while FIG. 3 depicts a puppy 18. However, it should be understood that any outline or perimeter shaping of the board 12 is possible and can conform to shapes including, but not limited to, plants, animals, insects, letters, symbols, animated characters, a person or people, inanimate objects, and visual arts. Furthermore, general height and width dimensions for the preferred embodiments of the display 10 can be varied, depending upon the size of the wall onto which the display 10 is to be installed and the area of wall coverage desired by an end user. To this end, large wall area and large a large display 10 can be provided and installed in sections so that all sections, when viewed together, have an outline or perimeter shape of the desired image.
  • The board 12 shown in FIGS. 1-3 comprises pegboard, containing spaced apart holes 20. The spacing of the holes 20, and hole diameter, is conventionally known, and can be customized pursuant to the need of the end user. However, it is not uncommon to have hole spacing of one-half ½″) inch to three (3″) inches apart, with hole diameters ranging from one-eighth (⅛″) inch to one-fourth (¼″) inch. Additionally, while pegboard is shown, the board 12 can be without holes 20, and still conform to a preferred embodiment of the display 10 so long as it has an outline or perimeter conforming to the shape desired and hereinabove described.
  • In either case, whether the board 12 has holes 20 or not, the graphics disclosed above in the form of a laminate, can alternatively be applied by hand for end user customization. As such, it is disclosed that an unfinished board 12 having an outline shape as disclosed herein, as shown in FIG. 4, can be finished with a colorant such as paint, crayons, markers, and the like. Furthermore, it is disclosed here that an unfinished board 12 can be segmented or lined such that graphics are applied in a color-by-number or color-by-segment manner (not shown).
  • FIG. 4 further depicts the display 10 of FIG. 1 (without applied graphics) in perspective view. This view provides the reader with an appreciation of the substantial two dimensionality of the wall board 12. FIG. 5 depicts the display 10 installed as a wall covering.
