F. E. A. W. BE RGAUD Filed April 50, 1936 IIIIIIIIIIIIIII'IIII INV ENTOR BY W ATTORNEYS Patented June s, 1931 CARTON FOR SHIPPING AND STORING BOXES BOTTLES, ETC.
Felicie Eugenie Amlie Wanpoullle Beland,
Paris, Fran Application April so, 1936, Serial No; 7719a In France July 11, 1935 1 Claim. (ci. 229 -14 The objectof my invention is to produce a protective-carton for. boxes or bottles of materials, especially toilet powders or perfumes, etc.. which materials would be liable to be adversely 5 affected by deterioration or changes in characteristics under conditions of undue heat or mois ture during the shipping and/or storing of the said material containing boxes or bottles.
My invention comprises a carton of the above 1 character having double'side walls and, if so desired, double bottom and cover walls, thereby providing an air space or spaces for protecting the said material-containing boxes or bottles from the adverse conditions above referred to.
15 A practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawing, in which the'embodiment is represented in vertical central section.
In the embodiment illustrated, an air space i 20 is formed between the inner and outer side walls 2 and'3 of the body of the carton, the lateral portion 5 of the carton serving to close the upper end of the air space. The inner. side wall terminates a slight distance above the bottom wall 25 4, as shown at 8, whereby the lower end of the air space I is brought into communication with V the interior of the carton. A cover 6 is provided,
the depending side wall I of which is removably seated on the exterior of the outer wall 3 of the 30body of the carton.
It will be seen that the material-containing boxes or bottles which are placed within the cartons are well protected from the undue influence of heat and/or moisture during the shipping and/or storing of the said boxes or bottles, thus maintaining the-materials at their original efliciency.
It will also be seen that the cartons may be made with a maximum capacity and with a minimum weight.- It will be understood that the cartons may be made of any desired shape and sizev and that they may be made of any suitable material.
It is evident that various changes may be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not intend to be limited to the particular embodiments herein shown and described.
What I claim is: I
-A carton for shipping and storing materialcontaining boxesor bottles, said carton comprising a body and a removable cover, the said body having inner and outer side walls forming an air space between them, the inner side wall terminating a slight distance above the bottom wall to bring the said air space into open communication with the interior of the'carton.
