Referring to the drawings in detail, themachine embodies a frame including supporting posts l 5, that are held in spaced relation with each other by means of the straps 6, that are connected with lthe supporting posts, as clearly shown by the drawings.
The table of the machine is indicated by the reference character 7, and is provided with a slot 8 and transverseslots 9, the slot accommodating the toothed endofrthe bell-crankfl'ever 10, r while the slots 9;4 accommodate the? toothed ends of the bell-'crank levers12.-= 1 1 Disposed directly under the top 7, `and arranged onzopposite sides of the slot-8, `are anglebara 13 thathave theirdepending lianges 14 arranged in spa-ced relation with each other,"` wheref they a're formed with openings to receive the pivotfpinll-, on Which theV bell-crank mounted. v l

Secured directly above the angle bars flfand 16, and arranged on the upper surface o1' thetable 7, are spaced bars 19, the spaces between' therbars 19 providing guideways for the dies 20, 21,` and 22 respectively. Cover plates 23 close the' guide- Ways 'and secure the dies against displacement. The dies 21 and 22 are also formed with openings to accommodate the teeth of the bell-crank levers 12, so that movement of the bell-crank levers 12 will be transmitted to the dies 2l and 22, as the bell-crank levers are operated.
The cover plate 23 that extends transversely of the table, is formed with a cut out portion of a length to accommodate the spring fingers 25, that are formed at one end of the cover plate 23, disposed transversely with respect` to the first mentioned cover plate, the spring fingers providing a guide into which the blanks, used in the formation of the clips, are fed.
2 The reference character 26 designates a bolt that is formed with a threaded extremity extended through the transverse cover plate 23 Where it is provided with a nut 27, securing the` bolt in position.
A circular enlargement indicated at 28 is formed on the bolt 26, and is disposed directly under the cover plate at a point adjacent to the spring iingers or guide 25,` so that a` blank placed in the lever `10 is pivotally the circular enlargement which constitutes the anvil of the machine.
The die 21 has its inner end curved to conform to the shape of the anvil, and the dies 21 and 22 have curved cut out portions also conforming to the curvature of the die, so that when the die 21 is moved into engagement with the blank, which in the present showing is indicated at A, one side of the clip will be `formed, and when the curved portions of the dies 21 and 22 are brought into engagement with the blank A, the formation of the clip will be completed. As the dies move rearwardly or away from the clip, the clip being constructed of sheet metal material,will open slightly, disengaging the anvil. The clip will now fall into the chute 29, which is supported directly under the anvil. The chute has its discharge ends disposed within the container 30, which is supported by the frame of the machine, to receive clips, from where they maybe removed for use. Pivotally mounted on the frame, is a treadle 31 that is engaged by the foot of the operator and pressed downwardly, when the die 20 is` to be moved towards the anvil. This treadle 31 is connected to the bell-crank'lever 10 by means of the rod 32, so that movement of the treadle will betransmitted to the bell-crank lever to accomplish the movement described. In order that the bell-crank lever 10 will be immediately returned to its initial position, coiled springs 33 and 34 are provided, the spring 33 having connec- .tion with the bell-crank lever at one of its' ends, while the opposite end thereof is anchoredto one of the supporting posts or rthe legs of the frame. The spring 34 has its upper end anchored to .the frame at 35, while the opposite end thereof is connected to the rod 36, that is connected to the ,treadle 31. l, The. reference: *character 37 designates the :treadlel that operates the bell-crank levers 12, the treadle 37 being connected to the bell-crank levers 12 by means of the connecting rods 38.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that due to the construction shown and described, clips, such as shown by Figure 6 of the drawings may be readily and easily formed from blanks comprising strips of metal, the clips when formed having extensions 45, that may be forced through a display card, and bent laterally, so that articles such as tubes of solder, tooth paste, or the like may be readily secured on the display card.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
1 'In a metallic clip forming machine, a frame, a table on the frame, an anvil on. the table, said table :having 'slots formed therein, angle bars secured to the table and arranged in parallel spaced relation with'each other at opposite sides of the slots, cover plates secured to the angle bars and. .providing guideways, one of the lcover 4plates having a cut out portion providing an entrancev to"` the space between the angle bars, whereby blanksto be formed into clips may be inserted in the guideways at a point adjacent to the anvil, dies movable'between the angle bars and having curved portions adapted to cooperate with the anvil in bending a blank, and means for operating the dies.
2. In a metallic clip forming machine, a frame, a table on the frame, said table having slots, angle bars secured to the table top adjacent to the slots, cover plates secured tothe angle bars and providing guideways, an anvil supported by one ofthe cover plates, one of the cover plates vhavinga slot whereby blanksto'be formed into clips may be positioned adjacent to the anvil,
