The invention has for an object the construction of a pocket in a glove for the purpose of keept ing change, coins and small articles'so that a wearer may remove change,-or small articles when desired without removing the glove.

Still further the invention proposes a novel arrangement of constructing the pocket upon the glove so that the pocket is composed of one integral piece of material which constitutes the pocket portion and a flap for closing the mouth of the pocket.

Still further the invention cdntemplates arranging the pocket portion-at an advantageous portion of the glove'where the portion thereof may be efiicient and cause no-discomfcrt during use. More particularly it is proposed to arrange the pocket on the wrist portion located at various positions, for example, on the-side equally to the back of the hand, or upon the rear edge of the wrist portion of the glove or upon another side-of the wrist portion, for example, along longitudinal line with the thumb.

Still further the invention contemplates an arrangement whereby the pocket may he closedwithout the use of a flap.

Furthermore as another object of this invention it is proposed to provide an arrangement whereby the mouth of the pocket may he forced. open so that change, or other small articles may be removed easily from the pocket.

Still further the invention contemplates the construction of a device as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

The glove according to this invention comprises a conventional glove 10 which has a wrist portion 11. This wrist portion is formed with a transo5 verse slot 12 and a piece of sheet material 13 of a width substantially equal to the slot is extended through the edges and has its under side secured by a row of stitches 14 along all sides thereof to the material of the wrist portion of the glove, except at the mouth opening of the pocket. The upper portion 15 of the sheet material constitutes a flap for closing the pocket. An arrangement is provided for holding the flap in a closed positi'on and comprises a snap fastener element 16 is upon the flap engageable with a complementary element 17 upon the material of the glove as shown in Fig. 2. A line of stitches 18 serve to secure the sheet of material 13 intermediate of its edge upon one side of the opening 12. The row of stitches 18 also form a pivot for the flap 15.

In Figs. 3 and 4 a modified form of the invention'has been disclosed in which an arrangement is provided whereby the mouth of the pocket may he forced and heldopen so that the contents may as be easily removed;' Since gloves are generally constructed tight-fitting, the pocket will have a tendency of retaining its articles. Since the other hand of the person may be covered with the other glove it is hard to remove an article in $0 the pocket. The means for holding the mouth of the pocket open comprises a pair of lugs 20 attached upon'the ends of the opening forming the mouth oi the pocket, and pivotally supporting a frame 21 extended in a passage 22 formed by bending the free edge of the material of the glove inwards and securing the bent-in end down by a line of stitches 24.

The frame 21 is provided with a transverse portion which passes through the passage 23 and with end portions at right angles to the transverse portion. The free ends of the end portions are pivotally connected upon the lugs 20 so that the frame 21 may assume a position flat against the pocket as indicated by the-dot and dash lines 1 in Fig. 3 or may be pivoted to a little less than a vertical position as shown by the fulllines, limited by the size of the passage 23. A strip 25 is attached intermediate the ends of the frame 21 by a loop portion 26 which engages through a cutout 27 in the bent edge of the material which forms the passage 23. The other end 28 of the strip. 25 is attached upon the flap 15. The arrangement is such that when the flap is drawn into the open position, the strip 25 is drawn and pivots the frame 21 into the raised position. In the raised position the mouth of the pocket is open and it is merely necessary to properly hold the hand so that the coins or articles fall out. When the flap 15 is released the frame 21 will assume its flat position due to the tension of the material of the glove upon the hand of the wearer.

In Figs. 5 and'6 amodifled form of the invention has been disclosed in which a novel arrangement is provided for closing the mouth of the pocket in lieu of the flap previously described. According to this invention the wrist portion 11 of the glove is provided with a transverse opening 29. Sheet material 30 is attached along three sides by stitches 31 to the material of the glove and forms the pocket in a manner so that the mouth of the pocket corresponds with the opening 29. On the fourth side the material 30 is stitched down by stitches 31 upon the outer edge of the opening 29 so as to make the opening 29 constitute the mouth of the pocket. on opposite sides of the opening 29 there are rows of engageable hooks 32 adapted to engage each other when the control slide 33 is moved in one direction. These hooks. are arranged so as to disengage when the control slide 33 moves in the opposite direction. Details of the intermediate hook construction will not be given here since this type of fastener is generally known, for example, there is a well known brand sold under the trade-mark Zipper.

In Fig. 7 another variation of the invention has been disclosed in which a piece ofmaterial 35 is positioned upon the inside of the wrist portion 11 of the glove immediately adjacent the edge of the wristportion and is secured down on three sides by a row of stitches 36 so that the pocket which is formed has an opening corresponding with the edge of the glove. A portion of the sheet material 35 extends over the edge and constitutes the flap 37 by which the pocket may be closed. A holding element 38 is arranged upon the flap similar to the arrangement previously described relative to Figs. 1 and 2 for holding the flap in a closed position.

In Fig. 8 another variation of the invention has been disclosed in which the wrist portion 11 is provided with a longitudinal opening 39 through which a piece of sheet material 40 engages. This sheet material has its end side sewed down so as to form a pocket 41 having an opening 39 as its mouth. This sheet material also has a flap portion 42 on the outer side which may be secured within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

A glove pocket, comprising an opening the material of a glove, a piece of sheet material extended through the opening having a portion inside and a portion outside of the glove, the portion inside being stitched down along the edges forming apocket having a mouth coinciding with the opening in said glove material, the upper portion constituting a flap, and means for forcing the mouth of the pocket open, comprising a frame constituting a transverse portion and arms at right angles thereto pivotally mounted by the ends of the arms at .the ends of said opening, the transverse portion of said frame being, movably secured upon one of the sides of the material forming the mouth of said pocket.

A glove pocket, comprising an opening in the material of a glove, a piece of sheet material extended through the opening having a portion inside and a portion outside of the glove, the portion inside being stitched down along the edges forming a pocket having a mouth coinciding with the opening in said glove material, the upper portion constituting a flap, and means for forcing the mouth of the pocket open, comprising a frame constituting a transverse portion and arms at right angles thereto pivotally mounted by the ends of the arms at the ends of said opening, the transverse portion of said frame being movably secured upon one of the sides of the material "forming the mouth of said pocket, and a strip attached upon the said transverse portion at one end and at the other 'end connected with said. flap to cause automatic opening of the mouth of the pocket when the flap is drawn to an open position.
