Description

Dec. 13, 1932. WEISSBERG 1,890,482
COMBINED NURSING BOTTLE AND NIPPLE HOLDER Filed May '7, 1929 Patented Dec. 13, 1932 UNITED STATES HYMAN D. WEISSBERG, or n w vonx, N. Y.- r 9 COMBINED NURSING BOTTLE lain) vIrPLn nompnn' i j Application filed May 7, 1929. Serrano. acne 07.
This invention relates to nursing bottles and more particularly toa combined holder or retainer and a fastening means for nipples.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a fastening ring preferably of resilient rubber of such diameter as to be frictionally drawn over the neck of the nipple when positioned on the nursing bottle, said ring having provision whereby it may be connected in any suitable manner to prevent. the
nursing bottle from being broken.
More specifically my invention relates to a combined nipple fastening means and holder consisting of a res'lient rubber ring having complementary rings or ears preferably integral therewith constructed to prevent the nipple from becoming separated from the bottle and also preventing the bottle from being thrown out of a carriage or babys crib for instance.
To enable others skilled in the art to morefully comprehend the underlying features of my invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming apart of this specification in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the invention applied to a nursing bottle.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view.
Fig. 3 is a plan showing the ring when detached or removed.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a slightly modilied form of the invention.
Fig. 5 is a plan of the modified form shown in Fig. 4.
" Referring now to the drawing wherein like reference characters designate correspondng parts throughout the several views, 5 designates a conventional type of nursing bottle in which the top edge or rim 6 of the neck 7 is formed with a bead'and over which the nipple 8 is positioned in the manner well understood. 7
To prevent the nipple from becoming de tached from the bottle, I provide an annular,
resilient rubber ring 9, the diameter of which is less than the outside diameter of the neck of the bottle so that due to the elasticity of the ring, it may be drawn over the bead and a the collar or neck portion 10 of the nipple thus retaining it securely. It will also be noted that the bottom head 11 of the nipple prevents the resilient ring from sliding down below the neck of the nipple to the bottle proper.
In addition to preventing the nipple from becoming detached from the bottle, there is also provided means for fastening or'connectmg the ringto the sides of a baby carriage,
or cr.b for instance, and to that end I provide tWo opposed rings 12, 13, also of resilient 9.,
rubber and preferably integral with the ring 9 but'considerably smaller in diameter. The
rings 12, 13 afford a means for attaching the In the form of the invention illustrated by F igs. 4 and 5, the main, larger ring 15 may be providedon its opposed sides with opposed ears 16, 17 having openings 18 therethrough to which the endsof a ribbon or tape 19 may be attached in the same manner and for the same purpose as described in connection with the form of the invention shown by Fig. 1.
In'the modified form of the invention illustrated, the opposed ears may be of slightly thicker rubber than the main body portion of V the ring so as to reenforce the same and prevent'the rubber from being broken due to the openings.
While I have shown in considerable detail and described two formsof the invention, it will beunderstood that various means may be resorted to in accomplishing the same pur- 5 quire. I claim however, as broadly new the combination of a retaining ring or holder having means for connecting it in such manner that the bottle to which it is attache cannot be broken.
Having shown and described my invention, 1
what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In combination, a bottle having a neck and a nursing nipple therefor, a resilient ring of a diameter less than the outside di ameter of the bottle neck adapted to be positioned over said nipple, and opposed rings integral with said first mentioned ring for attaching a band or ribbon thereto.
2. In' combination, a bottle having a neck and a'nursing nipple therefor, a resilient ring of'a diameter less than the outside diameter of the. bottle neck-adaptedto be lpositione'd f over said nipple, and opposed rings disposed 10 substantially in the plane of said resilient ring and integral therewith, for "attachin 'a band or ribbon thereto. I I
In testimony whereof 'I infirm-signature.
