This invention relates to improvements pumping apparatus and refers moreparticularly to an apparatus adapted for transferring viscous liquids such as heavy oils, sludge,
molasses or like materials.
The novelty of the invention lies primarily in the mounting of duplicate sets of equipment upon a portable base such as a truck or railroad car, the equipment including a receptacle or container from which is exhausted the air by means of the vacuum pump, each vacuum pump being direct connected to a separate power source.
The equipment or apparatus utilizes the process described in the Wheeler Patents Nos.
1,405,173 and 1,480,482.

Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the car shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, upon a railroad car 1 are mounted the tanks 2, 3, 4, and 5. These tanks are mounted upon blocks 6 and are held in place by means ot steel straps 7. Between the tanks 2 and 3 is a suction crossover line 8 and a vacuum cross-over line 9. The cross-over 8 `is controlled by'means of valves 10 and 11, while the cross-over line 9 is regulated by valves 12 and 13. Tanks 4 line 14, regulated by valves 15 and 16 and a vacuum crossover pipe 17 regulated by valves 18 and 19.
All of the tanks are equipped with removable hand hold plates 20. Mounted centrally ot the car are two vacuum pumps 21 and 22. Vacuum pump 21 is driven by a source of v power which is designated as 23 and the vacuum pump 22 is driven by a separate source of power 24. These power sources may be electric motors, internal combustion engines, steam engines, or mechanism of any type having sufficient power to drive the vacuum pumps.
The vacuum pumps are equipped with water cooling lines 25. Vacuum pump 21 has a connection 26, with a cross-over line 9 and similar connection 27 connects the vacuum pump 22 with a cross-over line 17. Beneath the receptacles 2 and 3 is a drain manifold 28 which has connection with the bottom of Serial No. 525,359.Y
