lower part of the container is thus shaped.
that no or only insignificant quantities of rest in the open position.
Apparatus according to'the invention are in known manner provided with an outlet or delivery valve the spindle of which is car-' ried into the container where it is guided and preferably the spindle is under'spring action so as to normally keep the valve in the closed position. According to the invention the spindle is within the container provided with a plate or other driver which at the downward movement of the spindle conveys a quantity of the powder towards the outlet and through the same. 'In'order to prevent the powder from falling out when the valve is at restin the open position the lower part of the container is made conical or the like with such slope of the walls that the powder will bridge over between the walls and the spindle, thus being discharged only under 39 the influence ot the said plate or driver on the spindle.
Preferably the opening stroke of the valve is limited by the said plate or driver thereby that the same abuts against the walls of the container. In this case the stroke of the valve and thereby the quantity of the powder delivered for each stroke may be adjusted by adjusting the relative position of the plate or driver and the valve on the spindle.
In the accompanying drawing an embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example. Both figures show vertical sections of an apparatus, Fig. 1 with the valve in the closed position and Fig. 2 with the valve in the fully opened position.
1 is the container, the lower part 2 of which is shaped conically. 3 'is the outlet valve mounted on the spindle 4 which is carried into the container where it is guided in the tube 5 which is secured within the container powder will fall out when the valve is 7 spindle. is provided with a plate or driver. 1 I
'11 which at the movement of'the spindle the spindle "and an abutment 8 located zit- I the lower end of the tube 5. The valve is" opened by means of the arms 9'secured to the valve-spindle or to collar or ring lO inextension of the same. 1
.' At a suitable height above the outlet the 0 downwards carries a quantity of powder against the outlet and presses it through the same. When the spindle isatrestormoving; upwards the powder will, as described above, bridge over between the sloping walls of the container and no or onlyquite inco'nsiderable quantities of powder will fall out.
In the embodimentshown in the the opening stroke of the valve is limited by the plate or driver 11 which abutsagainst the walls of the container above the outlet" and thereby closes the same from the-inside.-
I declare that what I claim is:
Apparatus .t'or, dispensing soap powder and the like comprising in combination a container having at its lower part a discharge' opening, the walls of said opening constitut ing a-valve seat, a movable valve stem passing down from the interior of the container out through said opening, said'valve stem having a clear annular space between it andthe opening edge, a guide for said stem arranged inside the container at a considerable distance above'the discharge opening so as to leave anunobstructed space around the said stem between the guide and opening, a valve attached to the stem outsidethe container and cooperating with the valve'seat at th 10:0
drawing 70 discharge opening, a collar attached to the valve stem under the guide inside the container and operating as an agitator, means for normally retaining the valve stem in a definite resting position, the lower portion of the container being formed with smooth conical steeper than the angle of friction of the powder, said inclination being constant and continuous down to the edge of the discharge opening.
In testimony signature.
