This invention relates to a closure for articles such as rubber pouches, hot water bags, syringes and the like. Y
Some of theobjects of the'present invention are to provide a closure construction for an article'ofthe indicated character which will be water-tight, which will be less bulky than those now provided in articles of the character mentioned, which may serve with neck-12 carried by .awall- 13 or. the container" body 10., and a cap 14 held captive for rotae tory moveinent by a flexible tab-15 havingone a tube so that the; article may be used as a syringeor douche, and to provide an article of the indicatedc'haracter withaolosure cap held captive for rotatory movementby a flexthe article While filling the same with water.
The nature of the invention and its distln- .guishing features and advantages Will appear when the following specification is read-in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which 7 I Figure 1 is a side elevation of arubber hot water bag or bottle embodying the closure construction of the present invention;
Fig. 2'is a perspective view of the article with a tube connected therewith so that the afterwhich the extremity of the tubular porarticle maybe used as a syringe.
Fig. 3 is a sectional'view on an enlarged scale of the closure construction and showing the cap separated from theneck.
Fig. 4 is a sectional'view taken on the line 1- 1 ofFig. 1 on an enlarged scale. m
Figr 5is a collective view of the cap forming parts.
Fig. 6 is a collective view of the neck forml ing parts.
Fig. 7 is a sectional view illustrating one of the details. V y
The present invention contemplates the provision of a closure construction for containersmade of rubber and adapted to contain hot water for applying heat to the body and for carrying out syringing operations,
and it iscontemplated to provide a closure which will be less bulky than those now provided, and which will also serve for connecting with the container a suitable tube.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, it will be apparent that there has been shown in Fig.1 a container body of high grade rubber of the usual oblong shape and havinga tab 11' at one end which serves for. suspending the container body. The con-5 'tainer body is provided with a closure construction byvi rtue of which the container I body is filled with hot water, which serves as a shut offto keep the water within the cons tainer body, and which allows the water to 1r; Yl, AssIG Io'R. or-loiin IiALrjroQE,
be discharged therefrom: .The said closure construction generally stated consists of a endysecured. to wall 16' of? the container body, 5' V The. neck '12 consists of members 1'7'1'and18 which are arranged respectively at opposite sides of the wall 13 and are-permanently fastened together. 'Themember 17 has an GX-' ternally threaded portion 19 and a flan e 20. The member l8'has-a flange 21 and a tubular portion 22 received in a'holejiinthe member "17. The" wall 13 has 'a holetherein which receivesthe' tubular portion 22 and aportion I I of said wall 13 together with a leather gasket 23 are arrangedbetween'the flanges and 21',
tion 22 is'turnedover-asat 24 to securelyfasten the-member's 17: and 18together and thus form-theneckin water tight connection with i a socket and has internal threads 29 which are complemental to'the threads of the portion 19;
The member 27 "hasa flange and a cen-x l:
tral portion 31. The members 26 and 27 are 3' arranged respectively at opposite sides of the grommet 25, and the portion '31. extends through the grominet25 "and a hole in the member 26 and is'turned .over as at 32 to securely fasten the members 26' and 27 together. The members '26 andl27 thus 'fastened bring the flange 30 or themember 27 and a portion of the member 26in contact with the grommet 25. 'The cap 1 1 will therefore be 7 held captive for rotatory movement onthe' tab 15. The'disk; of leather or rubber isarranged in the socket member 26.. It will now 1106 a be understood that the cap 14c may be readily v screwed on to the neck 12 to eiie'ctively close the opening provided'by the tubular portion 22 to hold-water within the container body 10. ,When the cap 14 is removed, the tab 15 may be: readily gripped with one hand a while filling "the container body lO With' 'waterf I In accordancewith another featufeof the invention there'is providedla rubber tube 33 having a socket; 3d at one end whose threads 35 are oomplementalto the threads of the portion 19. When the cap 14: is removed from the neck 12, the tube 33 may be connected therewith as shown in Figs. 2 and 7 so that the article-may be used for carrying out syringing operations. 7
