Description
June 10, 1930. R. o. BROOKS GARMENT ACCESSORY Filed Feb. 26, 1929 INVENTOR ATTORNEY? Patented June 10, 1930 UNITE STATES PATENT OFFICE GARMENT ACCESSORY Application filed February 26, 1929.
My invention relates to a new and improved garment accessory.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a garment accessory for womens garments having shoulder straps.
Another object of my invention is to provide asimple, eiiicient, adjustable and ornamental device in necklace form which shall keep the shoulder straps of womens gario ments in position.
Another object of my invention is to provide a simple and adjustable device that can be applied to an ordinary necklace.
Other objects of the invention will be set forth in the following description and drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment thereof, it being understood that the above general statement of the objects of the invention is intended to generally explain the same and not to limit it in any manner.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a preferred embodiment of my device.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the device in operation. Heretofore, women Wearing either under or outer garments provided with shoulder straps have been subjected to considerable in convenience because the shoulder straps frequently slipped off.
According to my invention, shoulder strap holding devices 3 are connected to the chain .or string 1 of an ordinary close fitting necklace LT by means of suitable hooks or holding devices 2. The holding devices 2 are provided with adjustable ribbons 3, having the usual adjusting devices l, so that the length of the ribbons 3 can be readilyadjusted. The ribbons 3 are provided with lingerie clasps 5 which may be connected to the shoulder straps S of the garment.
The necklace N has the desired ornamental effect of an ordinary close fitting necklace with clasp C at back, and it is not necessary or desirable to connect it to any part of the garment, save to the shoulder straps S.
It is likewise clear that the shoulder strap holding devices can be readily applied to any ordinary close fitting necklace.
WVhen the device is in use, it presents a neat and ornamental appearance, and keeps the Serial No. 342,816.
shoulder straps S efiectively in proper position.
\Vhen the device is used, the members 3 extend laterally across the shoulders of the user. It will be noted that the necklace has ornamental beads and that the ribbons 3 are connected to the necklace intermediate a pair of beads. This construction gives the device an ornamental appearance and in addition the members 3 do not constitute extensions of the necklace, so that the economical manufacture of my device is facilitated.
I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, but it is clear that numerous changes and omissions can be made without departing from its spirit.
I claim:
A holding device for the shoulder straps of a garment comprising a necklace having ornamental beads thereon, adjustable ribbons having holding devices connected to said necklace intermediate said beads, said ribbons having lingerie clasps at their outer ends.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature.
RALPH ORDWAY BROOKS.
