LINGERIE CLASP Filed Aug. 28. 1926 Patented May 17, 1927.
UNITED. STATE ESTELLA 1VL FLETCHER, OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
v LINGERIE CLASP.
Application filed August 28, 1926. Serial No. 132,180.
My invention is related to' garment supports, and particularly to "the support of womens apparel wherein it is desired to maintain them in their related positions during the wearing period.
One of'the objects of my invention is to maintain the strap support for the under garment and the outer garment in their relative positions during the period of their wear.
A still further object of my invention consists in the provision of a fastener wherein the same may be secured to the strap that passes over the shoulder of the wearer and that may be adjusted to the desired position upon the part of the wearer and after the same has been adjusted to desired position to have a permanent connection made to the outer garment to maintain the two in desired relative positions.
A still further object of my invention consists in providing means for the engagement and disengagement of the related devices.
With these and incidental objects in view,
5 the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth in the appended claims, and a preferred form of embodiment of which is hereinafter shown with reference to the drawings which accompany andform a part of this application.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a front view of one of my new and improved devices with the same in position upon the garments of the wearer.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of my devices in place upon the shoulder strap with the main body member shown in place, upon the shoulder strap, but not attached to the outer garment with which it is to be secured.
Fig. 3 is a disassembled perspective view of a preferred form of embodiment of my device. v Fig. 4 is a perspective view of asecond preferred form of embodiment of one of my new and improved devices, the same shown detached from the garment of the wearer.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of another preferred form of embodiment of my new and improved device- Fig. 6 is a side elevation of one of my new and. improved devices shown place and position upon the person of the wearer of the same. 1 T 1 Like reference characters refer. to like parts throughout the several views.
I make the body portion 1 of my new and improved device of spring nonrustable material, or of one of the baser metals and plate the same of suitable material that will not tarnish or stain the body of the wearer or the wearing apparel with which the same is to be associated. Projections 3 are formed upon the inner side of one of the adjacent side members. A catch 4: is formed upon one of the terminal ends of the body portions against which the opposite end is made to engage with and which will be maintained in position thereby. The shoulder strap 5 of the garment is then brought between the two side members and the catch is snapped into position. This assembly is best shown in detail in Fig. 2. A projection is formed along one edge as shown at 6 and fastening elements 7 are formed therethrough. An engaging element 8 is formed and a tab 10 of suitable material is made fast thereto. The tab 10 is made fast to the outer garment of the wearer which not only maintains the outer garment in position but .at the same time maintains the shoulder strap and the outer garment in their related and desired positions as well. The main body portion of my device is in slidable relation with the shoulder strap 5 and may be placed in the desired position at which time the body portion is closed as illustrated in Fig. 2. The tab 10 being secured to the outer garment and secured to the main body portion completes the assembly and then maintains the different elements of the device and the associated gar ments in their relative positions.
While the form of mechanism herein- -shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated. it is to be understood that it is not intendedto confine the invention to the forms of embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment'in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claims which follow.
What Iv claim is- 1. Ina device of the character described, the combination of a body portion bent over midway its ends, projections formed upon the. inner side one attire and see-thine;
hook formed upon one of the end sections adapted to engage with, and maintain the end section of the opposite side in intimate contact therewith, a projection formed along one side of one of the end sections, an engaging element associated with the projection and a tab associated with the engaging element.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a body portion of flat spring material bent over midway its ends to form a safety pin body portion, projections formed upon the inner side of one of the end sections, a hook engaging terminal disposed upon one of the end sections in mg isteri'ng alignment with the opposite end section, a projection formed partially along one of the edges of one of the end sections, an engaging element associated in hinged relation with the side projection and a tab associated with the engaging element.
