Another object is to provide a radiator cap of this character in which is included a set of locking jaws or fingers adapted to be engaged with a radiator neck or other similar body, upon partial rotation of the cap in. one direction and disengaged upon reverse rotation' Other objects will be in part obvious and in part pointed out hereinafter.
In, order that the invention and its mode of operation may be readily understood by persons skilled in the art, I have in the accompanying illustrative drawings, and in the" following detailed description based thereon set out one possible embodiment of the same.

Having more-particular reference to the drawings throughout which similar characters of reference designate similarparts this improved radiator cap may be stated as comprising a main cap, oscillatively' mounted upon a frame which is adapted to fit over-a radiator neck or the like and which carries movable jaws or locking fin gers engageable with said neck upon moving the cap in one direction and disengageable the cap. 2
As clearly indicated, the cap 7 includes a flat base portion upon which maybe-formed or attached any suitable or desirable ornament,-and has a dependingannular flange 8 which is adapted to surroundand enclose the several parts making-up this improved cap. r .1. The inner face of the end portion opposite the apertured end of each jaw is screw threaded as indicated in Fig. 6, whereby to provide for interlocking engagement with the externally threaded neck, portion of a radiator. It is understood that these locking jaws might have their inner faces differently formed for engagement with a body having a smooth outer face, depending upon friction to retain the parts in proper relative position;
When it is desired to attach this cap or closure to an externally threaded radiator neck, the cap is set down over the: neck portion, the'jaws being in the position shown inFig. 3. Sufficient pressure is brought to bear upon :the cap with the result that partial rotation in a clockwise direction as ibetween the cap-and the jaw-carrying frame is possible so as to move the jaws inwardly into engagement with the threads on the radiatorneck. By reference to Figs. 3 and 43 this operation and the resultant positioning'of'thejaws will be quite apparent. In orderto insure relative movement between the cap and jawcarrying frame, I have arranged upon the plate 10 a gasket ring 17, which is adapted to contact with the outer end of theradiator neck and under pressureu'pon the cap as .a whole, serves to is quite effective and at the same time simple in operation and construction.
-Ma-nifestly, the construction shown, is capable of considerable modification and such modification as may fall within the scope-of my claims, I consider within the scope of my invention.
Liclaim:
1. In a closure of the character described, the combination of a cap, an annular member [upon which the cap is I arranged, an open frame oscillatively' carrying said cap and-mounted therewithin, a movable member carriedLbythe frame, and means whereby upon partial-rotation of the cap upon the frame, the said movable member will engage the annular member and upon reverse; rotation of the cap, disengagement of the movable member will be effected.
. 2.. In a closure of the character .described, the :combination of acap, an annular memberi-upon which-the cap is arranged, a frame arranged in the cap, a set of movable members carried by the frame, means carried by the cap and engageable with the movable members, whereby uponrotation of thecap in one direction the members willengage thean-n-ular member and upon reverse rotationof said members will be disengaged from the-said annular member.

In a closure of the characterfdescribed, the combination of a cap, adapted to .engage over the externally threaded neck of the radiator, an 'oscillatively mounted frame in the cap, movable locking jaws carried by the frame and 'engageable with the neck, means carried by the cap to cause engagement or disengagement as between the jaws and neck, and a gasket carried bythe frame and adapted to engage the end of the neck to prevent water leakage and to insure movement of the cap. upon the frame as and for the purpose set forth.
7. In a closure of the character described, the combination of a cap, a. frame arranged in and oscillatively mounting said cap, said frame including a base plate, a ring spaced from said base plate, a set of circumferentially-spaced pins connecting the base plate, a set oflocking jaws pivoted to thepins and engageable with a radiator neck, and means carried by the cap to movethe jaws into and out of engagement with the neck and means carried by the frame to limit the movement.
8. In a closure of the character described, the combination of a cap, a frame arranged in and oscillatively mountingsaid cap, said frame including a base plate, a ring spaced from said base plate, a set of circumferentially spacedpins connecting the base, plate, a. set of locking jaws pivoted to the pins and engageable with a radiator neck, and means carried by the cap to move the jaws intoand out of engagement with the neck, 'means carried by the frame to limit the movement, and a gasket ring arranged upon the base plate and adapted for engagement with the outer end of the radiator neck toprevent said cap.
