INK NTOR. l8 I060- W ATTORNEYS.
E. M KENZIE ET AL TOWEL AND COMB HOLDER Filed Dec. 16, 1924 Patented Aug. 11, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELLIOT MCKENZIE AND ERNEST T. HEINSON, OF MOUNTAIN IRON, MINNESOTA, AS- SIGNORS OIE ONE-THIRD TO OTTO R. SCHOCHOW, 0F VIRGINIA, MINNESOTA.
TOWEL AND COMB HOLDER.
Application filed December 16, 1924. Serial No. 756,243.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ELLIOT MCKENZIE and ERNEST T. HEINSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Mountain Iron, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Towel and Comb Holder, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a towel and comb holder, and the object of our invention is the production of a simple and efficient device for holding articles, such as a comb, a towel and the like, and which device is preferably formed from a single piece or sheet of springy metal.
YVith the foregoing and other objects in view, our invention comprises certain combination, constructions and arrangement of parts as will be illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of a device constructed in accordance with our invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 22, Figure 1, and looking in the direction of the arrows.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates the body from which is cut or struck the spring tongue 2; this tongue is provided for holding different kinds of towels, clothes and the like. Tongue 2 is inwardly bowed at 3, with a straight central body portion normally flush with the outer face of body 1, and is also provided with an outwardly bent end a for more readily receiving a towel A (dotted lines).
The upper portion of body 1 is broadened, and its edges are slitted at 5, producing outwardlly bowed comb-clips 6 that have their outer ends 7 bent outwardly, to more readily receive the comb B (dotted lines).
The body 1 is provided at its ends with right angled extensions 8 that space the body from a support; extending from each exten sion 8 is an apertured ear 9 whereby the device may be securely attached to a support, by means of nails, screws or tacks.
Our device can be stamped from a suitable strip or sheet, by automatic machinery, hence, reducing the cost to a minimum.
While we have described the preferred embodiment of our invention, and have illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates, during the extensive manufacture of the same and we, therefore, reserve the right to make such alteration or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
lVhat we claim is:
As a new article of manufacture, a holder formed from a springy strip or sheet and comprising a body provided with a longitudinallyextending tongue, said tongue provided with a straight central portion terminating at its inner end in an inwardly bowed portion, said central portion also terminating at its outer end in an outwardlybent portion, said body broadened at its upper end and being slit at opposite edges producing outwardly bowed comb engaging clips, said body provided at its ends with right angled extensions, and apertured ears formed on said right angled extensions, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we hereunto aflix our signatures.
ELLIOT MOKENZIE. ERNEST T. HEINSON.
