Description

W. C. O'KANE.
CAMP STOVE.
. FILED MAR. 8, I922.
INVENTOR I WALTER E HIS ATTYS and weather.
Patented Mar. 13, 1923.
WALTER C. OKANE, OF DURHAM, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
CAMP STOVE.
Application filed March 8,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER C. OKANE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Durham, in the county of Strafford and State of New Hampshire, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Camp Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention is more particularly an improvement upon the camp stove of my Patent No. 1,333,335, dated March 9, 1920. In the construction of that patent the grid may be supported in one operative posi-.e tion only whereas it is often desirable that the grid shall stand higher or lower according to circumstances, as for example, the material to be cooked or heated, the nature of the fire or fuel or the state of the Wind The object of the invention is to provide inexpensive means whereby the position or elevation of the grid may be easily and quickly changed to suit the conditions or requirements and the invention is embodied in the example herein shown and described, the features of novelty being finally claimed.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the inner side of the stove equipped with the improvement.
Fig. 2 is a detail in edge view of one of the grid hinging members as shown in Fig. l.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of a modification of such hinging member.
Inthe views 5 designates the back wall and 8 and 9 the end walls that are hinged to forwardly projecting flanges 6 and 7 at the opposite ends of the back wall, substantially as in my former patent referred to. 10 designates the grid and 11. 11, the elongated hinging members to which the grid at its rear bar 10 is hinged so that it may be folded on the rear wall and slid into position to be enclosed by the end walls, substantially as in my former patent. But in the present instance the elongated hinging members are each bent outward providing an offset portion as shown at ll' to form an enlarged space between it and the back wall and within said space is secured a small hook l7 aifording a support for the rear of the grid 1922. Serial No. 541,894.
as illustrated in Fig. 2. There are thus provided two supporting positions for the grid one in the lower end of'the elongated hinging member and the second on the hooks 17 considerably above the first. The end walls 8 and 9 are provided with hooks 13 and 13 to (;10I'resp0ndingly support the front of the gri These grid supporting devices can be neatly secured to their respective walls by spot welding, riveting or otherwise as may be desired.
In Fig. 3 1, have shown a modification in which elongated hinging member and the supplementary hook members 17 are formed out of the same strip of metal. In this form one spot welding or riveting operation can be dispensed with.
The form of the parts can be changed without departing from the gist of the invention as claimed.
What I claim. is:
1. A camp stove including, in comb-ination, a back wall and end walls hinged thereto, an elongated hinging member adapted to support the grid at the back wall, a grid connected with said hinging member and a supplementary support cooperating with said elongated hinging member also adapted to support the grid at the back wall but at a different point with rela tion to the back wall.
2. A camp stove including, in combination, a back wall and end walls hinged thereto, an elongated hinging and grid supporting member on the back wall, said member bent to form an elongated space between it and said back wall, a grid connected with said hinging member and a supplementary support for the grid within said enlarged space.
3. A camp stove including, in combination, a back wall and end walls hinged thereto, an elongated grid hinging member connected at its upper and lower ends to the back wall and adapted to support the grid adjacent its lower connection with the back wall and a support at the back wall for the grid associated with said hinging member intermediate its points of connection with the back wall.
WALTER C. OKANE.
